Work on ducting and better pads (hawk ht-10 or something). Changing the pedal box isn't going to help with this issue.

Absolutely.

The smoking is due to you overheating and bedding in the front pads in a less than optimum manner, All pads smoke, the first time you bed in the pads. \the blueing of the rotors means that the Hawk pads are actually transfering material to the rotors and actually working properly and doing what they should due when they are being bedded in.

Get the beeter pads, run some ducting, learn to carry more speed through the corners using better tires and technique and you will be amazed at what the stock Mazda system can do. The only concern with the rotors is if you are getting them hot enough to crack them. If they aren't cracking, then they are still a large enough heat sink.
