I know that car from way back when it was first built. very well built and with a fresh motor and race box a very good deal. Also, there is no way you can even come close to building a race car like this for twice the money. I know as I built my car from scratch and have over $20,000 in it. This car can go about 7 seconds a lap faster than mine and it is a bargain.
Somebody who is thinking about going racing, this car is great, it more than likely needs some minor cleaning up, but with a couple of grand more you will be in the 28's for sure with a reliable Mazdees PP motor.
The key with this car is the Saenz box. Worth at least 2 seconds a lap at Mosport alone. I also know the owner and the car will be decently maintained, but not immaculate. Because Racecar......

Guys, there is no way you could replicate this car for less than 50-75K unless you make the parts yourself. The silly part is after you spend years building it, all the money poured into it, your car is still worth about 10-20K if you can find a buyer for a rotary powered race car. Just trying to save you guys 34 years of experience it took to realize this myself.

I tuned that car. Andrew wants to run a VW I think, thats the reason for the sale. It's a very "because race car" car but everything is there that needs to be there.

Ya I saw that car at Mazdee's last month. It was on the hoist at the time but looked pretty cool from underneath. I know zero of race car stuff, but looked cool all the same.
Funny how priorities work sometimes ?????
It's rare to ever get back what you paid to have fun with. Even woman work that way!

This past summer Andrew got a 1:36.6 out of it at the BARC Event. Okay times, but no where near where that car could be, especially with over 250 rwhp. It must have been a handful as Andrew can drive. It just needs some freshening up and new tires and you should be at least 4 seconds faster. Freak, the cars a dry sump as well. It is a lot of car for the money and should be a bullet in the right hands.
From what I have heard, Andrew is building an Audi (he works at a Volkswagen Dealership so it makes sense) and needs this car gone.
FWIW.

The car has run 1:29's but this was never done by Andrew driving. He is an OK driver but his throttle control needs some finesse. He corrects a lot mid corner but maybe he never got used to the car though. His primary reason for selling is because if he runs a VW, he will get sponsorship.
The value of the car is definitely there but only to the right buyer like anything.

I actually really want the 13B PP and dry sump too, but at that point I might as well buy the whole car, and no budget for that.

aaaand this is why I'd never go n/a.
so much money and gearing required instead of slapping a turbo on, not giving a **** about proper ratios and still being faster everywhere.
That said, this car is a fantastic deal for a race car, and it's already built. N/A has to be easy to drive and reliable, and worst case if you didn't like it you could sell the driveline and swap in something cheaper/more powerful (LS1 or turbo rotary) if you aren't using it for wheel to wheel.
01Racing really hit the nail on the head though - "bought not built" is far cheaper.

This is why, most racers use NA BP's and PP's or 3 rotors. These give decent power, fit into class rules a lot better and are reliable. If they need more power and a 3 rotor is not possible, then they go to an LSx swap or something. The reliability thing in traffic, is why guys go NA and spend mucho dinero on gearing, boxes etc.......
