And This Is Why I Race
If you watch this and don't get it, then I can't explain it to you......
24 Hours of Daytona: Corvette C7.R with Tommy Milner - /DRIVER'S EYE - YouTube
Best and most realistic video I have seen in a while. Its also why I like doing enduros.

man that is an amazing video. I can't wait to start racing this season. What do you guys do when you crash the car though? I mean that is a total write off right, no insurance. And I feel like I will crash eventually just because of the dangers involved.

Not to scare you off, but, as I have heard a few old racers around here say, "Never race a car that you aren't willing to push off a cliff and walk away."
But, as for total write off, with the extra stiffness from the cage hopefully keeping the center part of the car square (everything within the strut towers should be boxed in) you would be surprised what is repairable. I've seen cars bounce back from some really big hits.
I've also seen some thrashes to swap all of your parts over from one shell to another.
(I have a 90 coupe shell sitting in my side yard for just such a situation.)

I would suggest going to racing school or a driver's ed session, e.g.: Car Control | Advanced Driving | Driving School
You'll learn the limits of your car in a controlled environment.
Also, you're less likely to crash in events like Time Attack because there is very little chance of collision with other cars.

Yep, never go out on track unless you can afford to walk away from the car. Time Attack has less danger, but if something goes wrong on track and you go sailing off at 200 kmh, the walls don't know if its Time Attack or a race.
In fact at almost every Time Attack I go to, somebody pounds something hard enough to need a tow.
