Why do Honda owners automatically assume I want to race just because of my car ?

The funniest Corolla I saw was one that had a grille from a SAAB 9000 and stainless lower door panels from a BMW 325 with the "BMW" in giant cursive writing one them.

Nobody has tried to race me yet, but after only owning my car for a month, I already had someone offer to buy it off of me.

Okay, I got you guys beat. First off, I am way older than most of you and I drive my appliance Explorer most of the time. Last summer I was out with my street car, 2003 Jag XJR with 5 spoke BBS wheels and Brembo's, and driving up Trafalger Road in Oakville. This is the main north south road in Oakville and heavily travelled.

Anyways, I am stopped at a traffic light and a flat black early 90's Civic pulls up alongside me. I glance over as it has a boomy exhaust and its all lowered and stuff. I can hear the bass over my Best of Bob Segar, which my wife says I play much too loud. So the light turns green and I just pull away and give it a bit of gas cause the Honda was way to annoying. Pull up at the next light and the Honda is there again beside me. I glance over and the guy is giving me this death stare. I'm like WTF??? Whats his problem. The light turns green and the Honda starts to scream. I punch it a bit to get away from him and the noise. I hear the Honda bang through first and I'm like "WTF" again cause the guy thinks I'm racing him. I immediate touch the brakes and the guy comes smoking past all loud and weaving all over the road. We pull up to the next light and I look at the guy and without a word of a lie, the guy is in there pounding his chest and laughing at me and giving me some kind of sideways hand gesture that I have no idea what it was. I just turned left and went into the WalMart, LOL.

In all this time, I never used more than a quarter throttle and never got the car over 60 kmh. I just bet on some website there is a thread on an epic dual between a supercharged Jag and a Honda where the Honda guy smoked my a$$ as I just couldn't drive or that the superiority of the Honda showed through.

Kids.........

Those Cummins are reliable when worked properly, diesels are meant to work. So the ones constantly towing, being beat on, at the very least hauling something in the bed are the ones that last. The ones being daily driven are the ones that are most often failing, most of them are never driven long enough for the particulate filter to go into regen mode. And they're really easy to make hp out of, my buddy has a 2500 ram. Its chipped, got an exhaust and probably a few other goodies and its easily 600hp and 1000 lb/ft of torque. And it hauls like a sports car and its a 9000 lb truck.

On another note back to Honda owners one time I was driving to my moms house in Newmarket down Green Lane towards the 404. I'm sitting at the lights before the go station. This is in my 2nd car, a complete piece of wood I bought for $500. It was a 93 Mazda MX6, mismatched body panels, faded paint, rust holes etc. Only cool thing it had was a Borla Catback exhaust, was loud and sounded amazing. Well, sitting at the lights some ricer in probably the lamest car i've seen to date..was a 2nd gen Integra, lowered with a ricer ugly bodykit, fart can exhaust, horribly done flame paintjob, looked like rattle can. I'm sitting, and he comes flying up, barely misses me doing a ricer fly by. He makes a left at the intersection driving like a moron, I drive through look over and he got pulled over by the cops haha!

It doesn't matter what u drive, they will try and race and then change the story up so it makes them seem like a badass. Remeber the srt-4 guy who beat a fd but on the youtube video put a completely different setup for the rx. I don't remeber the exact details, but the rx was no where near as built as the srt-4 guy made it sound.

ok, i might as well add my civic story. in the summer i like to go late night cruzing in my tii. i was at an intersection waiting to get on the 403 near squair one, its the one where theres the long ramp if anyone knows. anyways, i pull up and the only car infront of me is a civic, whos also making a left onto the highway ramp. hes got his rice can on it, and i suposed he heard my tii because its fairly loud. when the light goes green he turns the corner then guns it on the ramp, im keeping up behind easy as he screems along. i put my blinker on and let the boost spool, pass him, blinker back in front, then drive normal.

How timely this topic is considering the encounter I had Saturday night in Windsor. Not a Civic, but exactly the type of driver this thread is about.

I was driving down Tecumseh in the left lane, after eating, heading out of town. From a parking lot on the left side of the street, a Maxima full of kids turned directly into my lane without signalling. I had to get hard on the brakes to avoid rear ending them, and suitably blasted my horn. Then they came to nearly a complete stop. I hit the horn again, yet they continued to creep along. Figuring they were drunk/inbred/stupid, I signalled and moved into the clear middle turning lane to pass (there was traffic to my right). They matched my speed, so I gave it a bit more throttle. With them still beside me there was really no room to go down a gear and floor it, with the red light ahead. So I braked, signalled and moved behind them into the now clear rightmost lane. There was another vehicle, a Saturn (or maybe Cavalier?) with a fart can already in the left lane waiting at the red. As I approached the intersection with perhaps 1.5 car lengths between my vehicle and the stopped fart can car, the Maxima used that space to switch into my lane in front of me! Being totally stunned it was all I could do to get hard on the brakes to avoid rear ending them. Really, I don't know how it happened without any contact between the vehicles because there couldn't have been more than an inch or two between his rear and my front during the maneuver.

As I was looking for a pen to write down his license number, the driver of the Maxima began talking through open windows to the passenger of the fart can-mobile. The light then turned green and they both sped off in a street race.

And I'm pulling away from the light thinking "WTF just happened?!".

Hope you reported them for street racing Aaron

I get a lot of this in my RX7 (na!) too - Civics, Mustangs (including crap older Fox/SN95 4 cyl and v6's that my na totally can outrun, let alone outcorner/outbrake) - and loads of smoky, loud, modded diesel pickups, who seem to compete to out-a$$#ole each other - I'm pretty sure both Mustang GT's and diesel pickups attract similar crowds of penile-challenged males. I do realize it's not all of them. The Civics, on the other hand, like others have said, are just mostly young, deluded idiots who think they have mad skillz and Honda rulz. Makes me glad my daily is a Passat VR6 wagon - which is every bit as quick as the 7, but utterly ignored by the wannabe ricers and dick(less)s.

I'd ask them to figure out how to make the Corolla into a titanium tube-framed RWD twin-turbo monster... ROLLZILLA!

It's interesting that so much development has gone into the Scion tC, for example, as a FWD performance (lifestyle/marketing) platform. The new Subayota (or Toobaru) BR-Z/FR-S RWD coupes might give the punks a bit more rope to hang themselves with than the late, naturally aspirated Celica and RSX, for example.

Also, I was impressed at how much power Hyundai was able to get out of its 2-litre turbo in the latest model of the Genesis Coupe.

No stoplight will be safe.

Kinda random, but we need a meet in the spring so we can just cruise around together like little ants. I like ants, they are small but clearly underestimated

I have a "give away" meet coming up.
So much FC parts I need to give away. Better someone use it before I trash it.

In the summer out for a innocent cruise, I see the most foolish bright blue lights approach from behind me. I then get a red light and the blue lights catch up to me and starts riding my *** till I complete the stop and doesn't stop until hes inches from my rear bumper. I realize its a newer Honda civic. Over the beautiful bass-drone sound of my idling hks cat back I can hear his civic revving up like an anxious virgin.

The light goes green and I so slowly pull away and creep into 2nd gear while hes following me still inches behind, I let off the throttle for a few seconds and then gave it a good crack getting up to the speed limit until I shift in 3rd gear. Now with the animal sound of the cat-back and the whip of the bov's he backed off and I continued on. There was a large crowd of people at the icecream shop close by watching of course and it was a proud moment for me and my rx, and all done without breaking any rules or speed limits.

This was the only time I acknowledged anyone trying to edge me on. Just not worth it.
