Why do Honda owners automatically assume I want to race just because of my car ?

Is it some nutrients they are missing that does not make their brain function properly ? I am not speaking about all Honda owners just the ones with the stupid flat black hatches with gutted interiors lol.
I am minding my own business pulling out of a mc Donald's for some after work munchies and basically out of nowhere this ugly EG hatch pulls up to me.
He looks at me and so does his girlfriend ( how come Hondas pull more women lol ) and he starts revving his go kart I mean Honda. At this point I have a soda in my hand so I am shifting with my free hand just driving casually to the next red when he rolls down the window and asks if I'm scared or something. I said no but I don't street race since I'm not a moron.
Well he kept revving so I gave in dropped it with minimal wheel spin to get to 50 which I still obeyed the speed limit ( I just got to the limit quicker lol ) and as soon as I hit 55 I let go of the gas and went back to snacking. At this point im already ahead of him. He does a fly by and meets me at the next lights. He says "haha see I smoked you" I look at him and just shake my head and turn down my street to where I enjoy my mc Donalds.
Now what is wrong with Honda owners ? Just because I drive a bright red convertible doesn't mean I'm a street racing idiot lol. I hope he gets arrested or pulled over.

This is nothing new.
I had my first RX7 back in the 80s, before "The Fast and the Furious" and before anyone thought it was cool or acceptable to spend money to hop up a Rice Rocket. There was just us, and the Z car guys, and all the Mustang/Camaro/Corvette rednecks who thought we were nuts. But they don't turn well, so we would beat them at Auto-X.
In the 90s (I am now on my second RX7, a T2) the Hondas on steroids thing happened, and when they started street racing, crashing, and being idiots, we all got tarred with the same brush by the cops and the media. Then Vin Diesel and Paul Walker took things mainstream, and I had exactlyyour experience. Hondas would pester me to race wherever I went. They all want to hang around your car and check it out, and you wonder if its safe to leave it parked alone in public. Eventually, I quit taking it out of the garage and sold it.
So good on you for being smart. Race on the track or a parking lot full of pylon cones.

Till this day this happens. Although, there are less Hondas than I use to remember. But you'll still get a kid with a baseball cap backwards, a wife beater, and a gutted Honda interior trying to rev at the light. He's got to rev to hear his engine because your rotary engine at idle is louder than his when he revs it! lol
I can't tell you how many of these kids are roaming the streets trying to get themselves into trouble, or worse yet, get other people in trouble.
I have been noticing now after owning my FD for 13+yrs, the ones that are trying to entice you are the Nissan guys. Everyone with a G35 coupe and Z want to take a crack at the rotary guys. I have no idea why anyone still thinks "racing" involves taking off a traffic light, only to get stopped at the next traffic light. Makes no sense.
I just let them go crazy, and I mind my own business.
Only time I really use some of the power, is when I need to merge with highway traffic. Otherwise, having additional power to overtake slower vehicles is all I ever expose the FD too. Other than taking it to the track that is.

Dude everybody tries to race me, even shitbox Jeep Cherokees and I'm driving my winter beater a 97 Mazda MX6 lowered with an oval tip muffler. I only run them where I know I can, and not like an idiot. It's usually I accelerate to the speed limit and that's it. Usually I get tailgated by some douches with bixenon's on high in my eyes and they do a river fly by.

Leaving my 7 parked for extended periods of time out of the line of sight worries me, at work and home I park it within viewing distance. Apparently convertibles are prime targets . Either way I guess most street racing Honda owners are and will never be good enough for the track so they think they have to race light to light.

Morons are morons regardless of what they drive. and bashing someone else's car is just as childish in my eyes as the behavior being vented about.
This type of thing is part of the territory of owning a sports car, muscle car, or anything else that looks like it might be hopped up/modified, etc..
In my Fiat Spyder, 300zx's, RX-7's, etc. This "racing" behavior was/is a common almost daily occurrence.. And in my experience its more often the 70's/80's corvettes and 80's mustang drivers but definitely not limited to them, as I have had girls in VW's, contractors in full size dodges, Audi A4's, Neon's!, Cavalier's, Sunfire's, and the like all try to entice some sort of street challenge. Whether its at a street light or on a crowded/open hwy.
At the end of the day thou its all about our own individual actions, we have the choice to make the right decisions. Just a thought too most people own cell phones these days, get a plate number of the yahoo's pull over and call the cops if you think someone's driving behavior is reckless. It will make them think twice about "lining up" anyone else again even if they don't get a fine.

I guess it is something with the verts... This normally happens everyday on hwy 7 when I come home from school. Especially when I also buy McD... its not only Honda's tho, mostly any car that can look fast attempts to annoy me. I remember early January when my Tii was just completed. Once again eating McD's next thing ya know some fake BOV civic cuts me off and feels so cool doing it
Bahhh, I just beat em to the speed limit to make em feel stupid
Don't ever race em. Why? Cause your lucky to have something they don't

This used to happen to me all the time, with a certain segment of a certain local car club being the primary aggressor. Really the only thing that is monster about my car from the outside is the bridgeport idle. You'd think that would make these douches think twice, but no.
There was always great amusement in saying "Yeah, let's go!", revving a little, then watching them take off as I pulled away normally from the intersection.
It did get to a point where it was annoying, so my solution was to go to one of their local meets, raise the hood, then walk away. After the crowd had formed and I was done talking to the few non-douches I know from the club, I'd calmly walk back to the car to answer questions. Oddly, after that night, there was no more harassment on the street from the local fart can crowd.
Now the local diesel truck crowd, that's another story. I'm convinced that 99% of those people are compensating for something. Personally I don't even see the point of modifying those trucks, but obviously realize that other people have different interests. But what about modifying a big diesel also modifies your personality into that of a sub-human ape like creature bent on pooping out it's territory?

The most ridiculous encounter I've ever had with the try to race everyone type of Honda drivers was back when my brother and I went to get his 240sx from a shop up in Vaughan.
On the way home my brother starts slowing down and heel toeing for the upcoming right turn and I guess the guy in the Honda thought we we're trying to egg him into a race or something like that and he floors it right through the intersection, meanwhile we're still at the intersection making the turn.
Quite funny indeed, haha.

I have just as much fun ignoring them. A lot less chance of an accident or them causing a situation that could damage my car. Letting them speed off is the best option IMO. Just see it for what it is and laugh at it.

There was a few stretches that kids likes to try to race me. I loved it when they liked to ride my *** when there was a low speed channelized right-turn coming up. I'd come in at speed and downshift rather than brake to not show my brake lights so they'd think they could keep up and follow, and do it as last minute as I could. My Mx-3 was a stiff little go-kart and handles very well; I'd run a racing line/apex the corner to keep my speed up, which chances are the kid following me didn't know how to do, and of course they would understeer, panic and/or hit the brakes hard. I know a good one or two that almost hit the outter curb, that I noticed anyway. They'd fall back huge and leave me alone. All good fun without breaking a sweat or the speed limit.

I have the same problem as well, but I think my licence plate does some of the enticing for me. I'll just sit at a green light until they move, then I'll go. I understand the joys of speed, but as many others have said, leave it to the track/auto-x.
I still remember this one blue protege 5, trying to race me in my mother's fusion. I was pretty dumbfounded on that, but to this day, I think it was an undercover police officer.
Mr. Cool, RXeckless, that evo did pull pretty hard. It lined up a few of us there, then I pointed and that's when he dropped it.
Aaron Cake, trucks are just simply put as 'too practical' The diesel guys have some seriously reliable vehicles, with great amounts of torque, that are fuel efficient (relatively). I'd love a ram 2500 with the cummins and a 5/6-speed for my daily driver, getting a 1000kms to a tank would be awesome, and it'll still tow your house away. I know they aren't for everyone, but I understand them, they are kind of like modern muscle cars too. (body on frame construction, huge motor, automatics are most popular, and they can't turn for the life of them)
Adonis Blue, I agree, part of owning a sports car, or something viewed as sporty will have people lining up at the lights. The thing in the GTA is that there seems to be plenty of people like this, and they tend to drive import vehicles, primarily hondas. Stereotypes do come from somewhere, and the civics has earned theirs over the years. When I see a civic, I generally think it's an elderly person, some girl, or someone who thinks that their civic does 0-60 in 2.4 seconds, and doesn't realize the 60 in which we refer is actually mph, not km/h.

I actually think it has alot to do with the type of cars they are.
1. Their light weight.
2. FF, safe, you can push them and all they do is push back lol
3. Double wishbone
4. cheap to run and fix (people who buy cheap cars are usually young)
5. N/A, forcing them to reach Vtec for some fun.
I think it has most to do with the light weight characteristics of the Honda's. Take a 2000lbs 200hp car and a 4000lbs 400hp car. I guarantee you'll feel like racing in the 2000lbs car 9 or 10 times out of 10.

That said, based on the diesel fleets that some of my customers operate, these trucks are anything but reliable and economical. Manifolds cracking, turbo failures before 100K, huge amounts of fuel used to regen the particulate filters, injectors failing, etc. Many of my customers are going back to large gas trucks. Keep in mind I'm not an expert on these things, just observing what's around me.

I've been told the duramaxx isn't too great, and that the powerstroke's can be like tossing a coin, but everyone I talk to about the Cummins says there fantastic. half a million km's of pure fifth wheel towing and still running, and getting (relatively) good mileage. Out of curiosity, what vehicles are they using in their fleets?
The behaviour by some of the diesel drivers, is the same of that of some other clubs, and I'm not saying that any disrespectful behaviour is acceptable. As I'm an open-minded person, I like the variety of vehicles we see, and I hope that a variety of vehicles is continued to be offered to us by the automotive manufacturers of the world. I think every vehicle group has it's own set of people that behave like asses. These are most likely the people that bullied on people their whole lives, and get trucks with 10" lifts because they want to keep that 'intimidation' factor alive. Of course, there are people with 10" lifts that use their trucks for crawling and the likes, so once again don't classify everyone like this. I do think it's a safe bet that most of the full-size truck guys with lifts, don't actually go through trails, otherwise they would want a smaller truck to get between trees, and the shorter wheel base, albeit a bit less stable, allows greater clearance. (Of course though, to each their own.)
EDIT: I could probably write a lengthy article about how disrespectful small car owners are towards trucks. To be honest, I could probably write one the other way around as well. I think it's a lot easier to get aggravated in the truck and do something about it rather than a small car. Team up this aggravation along with the false sense of security that these large vehicles add, and I can definitely see more people in trucks being dicks compared to smaller vehicles.

Even though a mustang doesn't handle well, it doesn't understeer like the civic does, and for that reason, is more of a joy to push on the street. Let's be honest 7 owners, who would rather their front wheels sliding over their rears?
I'm just going off memory between the two vehicles, but I don't see how you can suggest that the civic would be the vehicle that more people would like to push. Your proposed arguments venture back and forth between reasons for ownership, and reasons to push the car. I think the reasoning is that, 'I'm 16 (or think like a 16 year old) and for the first time in my life I can do whatever I want, how I want.' (not implying that statement towards you)
