Who's still playing next year?

With the amount of people bailing/leaving just was wondering who will be around next year and what everyones plans are over the winter?

I have a few plans but realistically maybe only complete a few since budget is virtually nil.

Plans
1: Complete bushing upgrade.
2: Wideband installation.
3: Redo getto brake lines with all new mazda non abs lines
4: Install 929 mastercyclinder
5: Install Cheers new magic brake pads!
6: Short Shifter
7: Oil lines (Stainless) Mine are leaking
8: Modify bumper for more air

Now the Controversail upgrade
9: Water injection.

Now this one is difficult. Seems like alot of work and extra stuff in the engine bay. I was told by mazdee's that this is no good that it washes the oil out of the engine so less lubrication. My only reason for doing this is for high boost on 94 octane gas.

On the other hand I have heard of people running more boost on pump gas then the common limit of 15psi.

What are your plans???????

I am hot on your heals bud.

I really wanted to paint the car but it doesn't look like I can afford the type of job I want so I will put that off.

So here is my winter project list.

1. FD twins on to 13BT keg (Got twins, working on lines and spacer)
2. FD UIM,throttle body (sent out for polishing at the moment)
3. New Intercooler 24 x 12 x 3.5, (Waiting for new piping)
4. Pull the old harness and try MegaSquirt with larger injectors
5. Re-finish 5zigens (This one will only happen if I have cash after the other mods)
6. Single exhaust (Bought a FD Stainless dp and a massive can just need to make them meet)
7. Mount the Sparco Pistas
8. Relocate alternator to AC location
9. Go to the track and beat IAN.

I hope to have the above done by the end of April.
Still will not be as blingy as you IAN but give me another 12 months.

Pics to come.

Hi Ian, my name is John. I'm really more into V-8's, but I thought I would give the rotary thing a try.

I checked your cardomain site and you have a really nice car. We both have white FC's and our mods are actually very similar. How cool is that!!!

I have been running more than 15 psi, 17-18 psi to be exact, on 94 pump for quite some time. Without WI if you can believe that!!!!!

I know you live in Oshawa, and Ottawa is a long way, but maybe someday you could come up here and I can show you how my car is tuned.

I will be doing absolutly nothing. Unless I bail on school and get a job. My future plan is to pick up a nice clean black S5 Gxl and converting it back to my old mobil ala 13bre twins baby. That may be a while though Will be nice to have another twinturbofc though Lawyerspirit

IN! While not near as hardcore as you guys, I will be:

-Porting my S4 intake manifolds, and maybe the TB
-Installing Pineapple Racing sleeves in the secondary ports
-Possibly installing an SAFC to fully take advantage of the ported manifolds, and my recently installed exhaust
-Finding some wheels for my tight whip- lol

That's about it, but will keep me busy.

-Rick

Install:
walboro fuel pump (sat on my desk for 4years now)
the 2nd Crane Hi-6 box
two new Crane LX92 coils
Buy a set of universal spark plug wires to use on new Crane gear
install water temp gauge, oil temp gauge, and oil pres gauge
Torsen LSD - Need to find spare 3rd member so I can direct swap it

Find ways to pay for:

1.) Enkei RPF1, 17x8 and 17x9 on kumho MXs 225 and 255 wide
2.) Order pair of mazda rebuilt rear brake calipers from Mazdaspeed motorsports
3.) Order 8 new pistons for the FD calipers I'm trying to rebuild
4.) Buy a set of Satisfied Brakes Grand Sport GS-3 pads (front and rear)
4.) install my brembo blanks that are sitting in my garage
5.) Bleed the system with Motul RBF600 (not till 1 week before solo1 season starts)
6.) Make my Gauge panel
7.) make 7 mm thick wheel spacers
8.) Try to find some sort of light weight 16x8 +28 mm wheels to run 245/45/16 R comps
9.) Buy an Engine Stand
10.) Take apart my spare motor and inspect
11.) See if I want to blow 1000+ bucks to buy a seal kit for a S5 engine I have sitting around
12.) Re-align the front and rear Toe
13.) Consider helping Ian out in exchange for food and beer

I hope you like lying on cold concrete when it's -30 outside. That is what I did last year, plus make my own delrin bushings for the subframe and differntial. Plus coilovers. IT was COLD outside. I worked on teh car everynight after work for 4 hours from Dec 1 to March 15, 4 to 5 times a week.

Get a S5 Converitble from arizona and drive it back. Drop in your rebuilt 13b-re. Swap in TII driveline. Get dead set of S5 TII turbos and send it out to Majestic turbos in Texas and get a hyrid. Buy a Haltech E8. Buy racing beat springs and a set of KYBs and laugh at IAN for spending so much money.

i'm running out of funds, so my major plans will only be executed once i start working again after this school year (in May).

so really only three main things for me:

1) try to practice and master my porting technique on the numerous junk/practice irons and housings i am collecting...specifically a bridgeport is my plan

2) build Megasquirt EMS with all necessary add-ons

3) depending on my tax returns (lol), i will be picking up a working S5 core as the basis for the upcoming engine build...

next summer will be fun and a lot of work will have to be done. so this winter for me is basically research and porting practice...

My biggest goal is to come in 3rd for GT1 class in Solo1. The top 4-5 in my class have had those places secured since 1997, so I have my work cut out for me.

Well I did have some pretty wicked big plans for the winter, but since my licence is going to be suspended and that automaticlly puts me out of a job, I have to save my money and find another job

So yeah my winter is going to suck

I need to get mine running. My plans are, (if time and money allow)

Rebuild/replace steering box
Find & install GSL-SE front cover & oil pan. (I might just buy them from Mazdaspeed Motorsports)
Mazdaspeed Motorsports urethane engine mounts, Racing Beat engine bracket
Install ACT clutch
Find and install GSL-SE fuel tank & Walbro fuel pump
Swap S4 into my 85 GSL. (I just pulled it out of my parts car last week, it's a little daunting when the engine runds great and only has 100k on it. I hope it runs as well in the new car)
Hope I can get car running.
Make it out to more meets.

Once I get the car running I then need to start autoxing (Solo2) it and start modding it from there. I then plan to move up to Solo 1 in 2007.

Wow. Tons of reply's,

lawyer's spirit
I want to paint the car too but its not going to be for some time. Paint jobs are so expensive. Good luck on your FC to FD conversion. I'm sure it will be fast. Twinturbofc's (CRoMag) car when running was super fast. Untill I hit 2nd gear. LOL JK. I will be going to solo1 school next year so if your interested so should come with me. Its the whole weekend at mosport development track. So enough chit chat and lets get to work

Amur,
For some reason a picture of you jumping out of a cake seems more appropriate!

Evilrotor,
I think I met you before. Along time ago. Say 5 or so years ago. Seemed like a nice guy Maybe we can compare cars at the 5th ottawa rx7 meet?

twinturbofc
One day you will be with the force

ridicilousrx7
Why bailing? I though you had some plans? Hope you reconsider. One engine gone bad can't make you bend over. You just need a good motor and some clean install and you should be set for years. I've meet this guy once 5 years ago(Evilrotor) who's motor went through hell and is still holding together! 18psi man!

p4nc7
Thanks, Hope you find a car to your liking.

Cheers,
Yup. It will be cold. I have food and beer here for you when you help me drop the rear end! Also mark a day. We can start stripping that S5 and assemble a clean motor for our solo1 venture next year! And yes I've spent to much money! But was still cheaper then getting some "yahoo" shop to do it all.

im the main event.
good luck at the winning the Meeting of the mazda's next year. See you there!

Coldfire
Your getting more hardcore as the days come. Can't wait to see the final outcome.

rxprez
Why are you putting a new motor in a FB and not into the FC?

nismo convert86
You should get a job. 4.3billion dollars?????!!!!!!

Fc3s.usd
Thats a good idea. SInce you missed out on an entire summer

7 rocket
Why sell. Whats your next toy?

rotory rocket1
WTF That sucks.

wankelingbeer
You traitor. No 302 for you!

This summer ottawa meet was supposed to be the big one. Not many people made it due to the weather etc. Wonder what this coming summer will bring?

Another plan for me is to bring my fc to the rotary revolution.

Why not try solo1 this coming summer. Cheers and I plan on doing it. I for one this will be my first attempt and I have never done autox or a summer of track events etc. I average maybe one open track day a summer for the last 5 years. (Limiting factor is money and time but I am putting all of this aside to attempt to do something I have been wanting to do for years)

I have a few parts to order from mazdaspeed too and I need a complete set of racing tires and rims (Unless I use stock ones) and new tires for my street rims. It's going to be an expensive spring

Good luck in solo2 if you decide not to try solo1.
