wheel and tire zone
CSC racing
Bicnkell's
I think Grisdale racing also does it

Note: No one will shave a tire that has already been used.

Shaving tires!? That is some hardcore ****. I do believe that's the first thread I've ever seen about this subject.

What exactly are you doing with these tires? Track days?

The reason why you shave tires is to keep the temperature of the tire down, and increase longevity and grip. A full tread tire heats up way to much from the tread being pulled along the pavement (race track of course) and then the tread will chunk (come apart). What we do is take a new set of tires at preferably 4/32 of an inch of tread depth, take them to the track and drive them until they reach the operating temperature each tire is designed for, then letthem cure for about a week or so. This maximizes the tires tread life, and stabilizes the tires tread compound.
