What Premix do you use?
I'm currently having the engine in my '86 rebuilt (again) and I've decided the old and leaking OMP isn't going back on the car - I'm switching to premix.
I've done a lot of searching about what oil to use, and 98% of the respondants are in the US and use oils that aren't necessarily readily availiable in Canada.
So, what type/brand do you my fellow Canadians use as premix and where do you get it?
Thanks!
Nick

I only use Redline 2 Stroke Racing. I have used it for 8 years now on my race motors and have had no issues at all, even up to (cough, cough) 9,900 rpm (cough, cough).
I highly recommend it and its available at most Canadian Tires in their motorcycle section. I used to use it in my racing 2 stroke karts and they would pull over 20,000 rpm and it worked great there as well.

If your not going to use a good quality 2 stroke oil you should keep your mixture around 100:1 or 1oz per gallon.

That's great, thanks!

I'm assuming you guys are talking about this stuff?
So, for regular non track use, putting a whole bottle in an FC tank (about 100:1) would be overkill?

I would only use it at that level if you have disconnected the stock Mazda oil injection system. I use it at 100:1 in place of the stock system. I am not sure what level you would use it at in addition to the stock system as it may also cause issues with emission controls.
Jim should be a better help than me.

I have 3 rotaries and I use legend zx-2sr in the sachs aircooled snowmachine and in my car on race days (it also smells great). I used to use idemitsu but I just order myself Amsol Saber pro from local napa, very good product. I have sohn adapter and dump 4oz in full tank.

Hey Nick! Good to hear from you again! Been a looog time since our meets in Orleans!
Everyone has their "pet premix" of choice, just like oil, tranny fluid and diff fluid.
What did I use in my FC running 15psi for 8 years? The cheap CT "Formula 1" low ash premix. When the engine was taken apart at Mazdees, the internals still looked mint.
What has Nik been running in his HBP FC all these years? The cheap stuff.
Guess what we use in our racecar? Yep, the cheap stuff.
So, you can spend a lot of money on fancy premix. But you don't have to.
You can make your own decision.

I've been using the Amsoil Sabre for years. Mostly because when I'm at the track I can't be bothered measuring the stuff out, so I buy it by the case of 8oz bottles, and they are sized to dump a single bottle into a 5Gal jerry can and you get more or less 100:1 (Closer to 90 I think, but it's the race car, so I don't mind the haze coming out the back.) Makes life easier, plus, my old roomate has a motorcycle shop now and is an Amsoil dealer, so he sells them to me by the case at cost.
Also, since the bottles are small, I carry a few in my RX8 and dump around 4oz in with each fillup just for insurance.

I used the valvolin 2 stroke, use to say in the uses: rotary premix. ( they took that off for the latests packages due to people putting toomuch in cars with oem cats )

not expensive at all, and doesnt make exhaust stinck that much.
amsoil is great, and makes exhaust smell good tooo, but damn expensive ! .
and damn i thought the car would be extinct after a few years of you being in vancouver, but i guess your love is too much for the dorito motor

Both engines I have run premix in and torn down have been mint when worn down other than blown side seals, and apex seals, I'm sure the differences in price hardly worth it.

The 100:1 ratio makes life really easy. Put 20 litres of fuel in, put 200 millilitres of oil in and so on. I usually use whatever I can get a hold of. Used shell nautalis, shell advanced for sleds, motomaster outboard, God only knows. If it's TCW3 compatible it goes in the tank.
