Just one of those things that happens by chance and is pretty cool. I am just finishing up a rebuild of a 1976 Ford F250 Super Cab. The truck will be painted the same colour as my race car and will be used as a dedicated tow vehicle. Anyways I was looking at a Ford Manual last night and noticed that the generation of Ford Truck I have, 1973 to 1979 is coded as an "FC". Hey my car is an FC as well.

Pretty cool eh!

Well, it has done its fair share of clandestine runs. It has a rebuilt 460, with a torquer Comp Cam, ported heads, 600cfm Holley and Hooker Headers. It also has a B&M Shift kit and a 2,800 stall convertor. When tuned properly it will pull a stock 5.0L Mustang across an intersection. It has been leaned down a ton to pass Emissions Testing, but as soon as it is out of the body shop I will set it up properly again.

My buddy had tons of fun with this truck and you should see the faces of other drivers when 6,000 lbs of ancient Old School Detroit Iron lunges out on them, then physics takes over and it gets smoked within half a block. Last time at the drags (1999) it turned a 16.18 at 74 mph, actually thats about as fast as most Mazda FC's. Har Har.

He!! with it's 4:10 rear it will pull the Queen Mary across an intersection. It even has old school 16x10 inch rear wheels and tires. Grip in the dry is not a concern.

Don't have any shots of the truck after we have done most of the rebuild, but this is what it looked like before we started work on it. The truck will be white and lowered about 2 inches in the nose.

I have also picked up some real old school chrome trim rings for it as well.

You can't see it but the rear window slider has old decals from the 1985 NHRA Winternationals and old Players Formula Atlantic decals stuck inside the cap. The truck is a real time capsule because we ripped out a load of old button tufted brown vinyl from the interior and had to repair the CB Radio. In cleaning out the interior I found old Players GM Programs from 1986 in the back seat area.

Really cool old beast, but it only gets about 9 mpg unloaded and has 2 fuel tanks totaling 39 gallons/ 156 litres. A rough calculation means that if mid grade gas costs about $1.00 per litre, then the truck will cost about $156 to fill up and it will only go 351 miles or 561 kilometers.

This is a shot of a mid 70's FC.

I always wanted, and still do, a big 70's burban, 2WD with one of those yummy big blocks. I could tow my house behind me. of course I would have some wicked interior and captain chairs. the dream can still come true....

You'd need quite the trailer hitch for those bad boys. Although the hum from the tyres on the highway would drive a man to marrage......I mean insanity.

i would never want a truck that high, i mean i'm fairly bloddy tall (6 feet 3 1/2 inches and 18 years old) but hell that is just useless i think, i would rather go with teh suburan idea, i was going to do it too. a week before i was release from my moms womb, my dad bought a brand new Suburban (1987 at the time) and he kept it in imaculate condition, last year it had a few rust spots (not to bad for a 17 year old vehicle daily driven for all 17 years) and 350ish kms and engine never quit working once, well it was going to be my grad present (and i wanted it really bad) and i was going to turn it into a sweet mother of a truck, lowered a bit, nice paint the works, well november last year some old lady decided to run a red (claims sun was in her eyes, i think she never had them open) and smacked the back end while my brother was driveing. my dad got over 4g's for it (damn good deal he paid close to 18g's brand new) but i was so sad cause the rear axel housing was bent outta shape (1-2 degrees). i also had plans to try and make it a Drifter :P (for the hell of it) but that all went south, and i never had the money to buy it back, i would have but never did.

since then i bought a 1991 mercury topaz and used it working road consrtuction on calgary, then i hit a dear and that car came to a end (Thank God) now i'm saving up to import a FC, FD for weekend machine, and if if don't get married till 5-6 years, i wanna get another FD and make a track car, that way if i do get married i'll sell the FC (or not tell her bout it, and the Race car) and i'm set, but i'm still working all the little kinks out:P.

Wow, that's an hell of a sentance.

I'm leaning toward a turbo for Aweome Truck. ~250 HP, and a short set of gears, tuned for boost at low RPM. Add a good set of brakes all around, and you're set.

5-6k lbs towing, and 25 MPG's unloaded. None too shabby.

Feds, You Girly Boy

Hell, I'll run you at Cayuga, you and your ***** truck. My 8 litres of Detroit Iron will stomp all over your puny force fed Japanese Dragons.

If somehow you manage to beat me, then (voice raises for smack talk) MY 6,000 lbs of prime Detroit Iron will squash your girly truck into the dirt and not even scratch my front bumper.

And if thats not enough a 12-71 whipple charger will give me about 1200 hp on pump gas and you can kiss my grits.

TORQUE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooops, Billy reared his ugly head.

You've been spending way too much time in states.

For me it would be a old bronco, with gun rack, a AR15 rifle, 35 L gas can. 8" lift, and double shocks, 7000 lbs electric winch, snorkle.

As soon as you find me a turbo DSM for $50 or less, I'll take you to school. You are forgetting to factor in my "Natural Lightening Strategy"

Thats right, I forgot about your organic vehicle lightening program.

I would still stomp you especially after I reversed my previously organically lightened truck. Call me the inverse Colin Chapman "to go faster add weight, even if you loose you can still crush them (literally)"

Har Har, Detroit Iron Rules.
