Talking Very Excited Today!

Another update in the ongoing build up of my car.

AP news -

Dateline Oakville:

Last night at approximately 9:30 pm, Dave Salt and Eric Nummelin successfully completed a move of the drivers seat 2 inches to the right hand side of the car and about 1 inch lower. This seemingly minor accomplishment is expected to have major benefits in the overall on-track performance of the car.

Eric Nummelin was heard to quote extremely loudly," Holey Cr@p, I can actually turn my head to the left in a race car. For the first time in over 15 years of racing cars, I can look out the drivers window. Finally I won't finish every race with a sore neck".

The whole racing world is now focused on a the Nummelin Motorsports palatial Global Headquarters, a seemingly modest 2 car garage in Oakville, to see what other previously thought impossible things come out of that esteemed skunkworks.

LOL,

Eric

The next project at Nummelin Motorsports hq is surgically offsetting Eric's spine to compensate. They can rebuild him, they have the technology. In true Finn fashion, the only anesthetic used will be vodka.

Then we will offset thee column as well! I have proclaimed it!

Shane, I guess that's why my Gramps was President of the Finnish Fire Eaters Club of Canada for a number of years. A bunch of old Finns getting together and drinking Aquavit and BS'ing about how big the fish was they caught last summer.

Sorry, LOL, I am just in a great mood. You guys don't know how hard it is to race without being able to move your head. We also worked out how to move the column and are in the process of moving all the gauges to the right by about an inch.

One really wierd thing is the pedal feel. My feet are meeting the pedals on a different side angle and it just seems a bit wrong right now. It will take some on track to feel good.

Eric

Stay tuned......

wouldn't a 3" x 5" flat mirror placed to the left side of the steering wheel, and angled slightly give you a nice view of anything to your left?

or what about a video camera and a small screen?

Offset the wheel a la Mark Hammel in Corvette Summer:

1. Re-mount the wheel where it needs to go using a shaft and 2 pillow blocks
2. Run some bike chain back to the original steering column

Viola! Proper wheel position.

FYI: The once and future Mr. Skywalker actually converted his corvette to RHD so he could better scope the ladies on the sidewalk. And, I suppose, be at closer range for the jedi mind trick.

Omg...aquavit and eating-fire can't possibly be a safe combination.
