UPS Tracking..WTHeck?

I am Monitoring a "package" that I am to get.I am Really Surprised with the RIDE that it is Getting From UPS!..it was not a problem from the sellers House to Windsor Ontario.THEN it takes off Back INTO the States, goes through TWO States and NOW it is Back..In Windsor!!!..You Wonder Why to Pay so Much In shipping?..By the Time I get this Item,It will have More Miles On it than My Car!..

the tracking at windsor location happened to many packages of mine, and its 99.999% incorrect so just ignore it. UPS tracking has gotten pretty crappy now, and obviously with lots of actual mistakes, so take it as only a rough idea of where your package is. until the tracking says its in your city, don't believe that its actually in your country yet. and just so you can expect it.. you'll be charge a huge fee when they deliver it to you, I'm 100% sure about that.
if you're really looking for "correct" tracking, I suggest fedex or DHL..
good luck

USPS for the win!
Followed closely by FedEx.
Or CanPar if shipping only in Canada.

Whenever I get stuff shipped to me out of the US I like to get it sent USPS, as in the past I've had to pay UPS just as much in taxes, duty and brokerage as the item's worth. I've gotten items from the US through the post office with no taxes, duty, or brokerage (sometimes).

The problem is that UPS is good for the shipper, but it sucks for the recipiant, lots of businesses ship exclusively with UPS, because it's easier for them. Within the US it'd be fine, as there'd be no brokerage for them to charge you, but everywhere else it sucks for the customer.

There is a problem with disclosure on the shipper's side. Shippers who ship with UPS neglect to tell the recipient that they are to pay brokerage fees, basically because it isn't included in UPSs quote. On the other hand, Fedex and USPS include brokerage fees with the shipping quote so all you're left to pay is the taxes.

USPS and Canada Post have agreements to handle each other's service when it gets to US/Canada. that is why you do not have to pay brokerage for USPS.

You do have to pay sometimes, it seems to depend on what the stars are saying that night or some wierd thing. I had my wheels shipped to me via USPS and I had to pay customs, brokerage and tax on all of them. They came in seperate boxes, arrived at seperate times, and NONE of them had the same charge on them, despite identical identification on the boxes. I've only not had to pay a few times.

are you sure it was "brokerage"? sometimes you will still have to pay duties if the product is not made in North America. post office will sometimes also charge a "handling fee" for certain express mail items, or special items.

i just ordered a set of KYB AGX struts, and even though i sent them about 3 e-mails telling them not to, they shipped using UPS, not USPS. so, depending on the damage i have to pay, i might send it back to them....because i don't think i have enough lube for the fees i will have to pay :\
well at least i can "track" my package

By far the worst is shipping UPS to sudbury. UPS doesnt actually deliver **** to Sudbury, instead they transfer the package in toronto to something called "muskoka delivery services". As you can imagine, muskoka delivery services is a shady outfit that doesn't use tracking numbers, and usually takes about a week or more to get your package from toronto to your door.

Also, aaron is right about the duties vs brokerage thing with UPS.

I get my racing beat stuff the second I pay. Best part is, if I get 3 out of 4 brake rotors right, I can take the 1 back!

I just dealt with courier stuff at work this week. UPS charages huge "brokerage" fees. DHL charges much less.

The company I was buying from does not ship DHL unless my company has a DHL account number to bill to. (We do not.) So it looked like adding over 13% on to the cost of every unit I buy and that means I have to add that cost on to the per-unit cost we charge people.

I'm now told we have something worked out where I will not be charged extra brokerage fees. I'll see how it goes.

To see the fees visit:

yeah, if you use "UPS Express Plus, Express, and Expedited Services" there are no brokerage fees.
so commerical shipping isn't exempt from all these stupid fees either?
