trustworthy fd importers in ontario?

i have read all about tiger japanese, but what about some of these other importers? i noticed torontojdm.com posted an fd this spring here on this site, and its still on their website selling for only $7400

just starting to look seriously as i've got just over $5000 saved for my future car, and plan on getting something early spring. should have around $10 grand by then.

preferably hoping for a rhd that has been here a while, and already has had a rebuild.

i've searched like crazy...just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

soo excited to finally get an fd

Most of the cars that are being sold by those importers are pretty close to stock (engine wise) If you want it modded a bit you are better off getting one private. kijiji has tons of them in montreal but I have seen a fair share in Ontario as well. Good choice on the rhd drive too

Once you are at 10k I don't think you are from from getting a Canadian FD. Char33's car is a fantastic buy at 14k. I picked mine up for less than that but knowing it needed a rebuild.

But if JDM is really your thing more power to you and good luck with your search.

Yup. My first car was an fb, and i've owned 2 more fb's after that, and also a turbo fc. I was 19 when the 1993 rx7 came available, and the closest i've been to one was sitting in one when it arrived at the dealership. I've driven an rx8 but its just not the same

I've always dreamed of owning an fd, but never had the cash to do it. I'm very motivated.

And about the LHD vs RHD....I've always wanted to be a little different, so naturally would prefer a jdm rx7. I get the feeling we who like to be different should embrace the fact that its still possible here in Ontario to do so before we follow suit with Quebec.

I'm going to hope for one that's got some history, and like I said before, a recent rebuild. Most of those cars on kijiji look very shady to me. I think I'm going to check out some of these dealers just for the hell of it though next week.

Anyone in the Kitchener, or even Toronto area that hasn't stored their rx7 want to take me for a spin?

check out rightdrive.

they bring good quality cars, and they come with HTA "allowed" mods and a full one year warranty. They're a bit more expensive, but usually are better quality (or you're jsut paynig for that warranty you KNOW you'll need).

I am in Cambridge, and have some mods and of course a RHD FD. I do not mind taking you out for a spin some time.

I purchased mine through Tiger, and have no regrets at all. Many of the cars they sell do have some flaws ( like bumps and dings and so on ). I am pretty sure they have all been close to stock and mine was just that when I bought it. If your intentions are to build up the car it is can be financially cheaper to buy someone elses project.

I bought mine for around 7k. Nothing truly wrong with it. I originally wanted to do a ls* conversion in the car but kept it rotary. Now I am slightly over 20k in to the car and I have yet to touch the suspension, brakes, or paint!

If I had it to do over again I would either A leave the car stock and enjoy it or B buy a modified one.

I bought my car from Japanpowerinc in Ottawa. That was two years ago, and I have had no problems with the car; with that, being the case, Iam able to spend my time buying upgraded stuff for my car.

I had a annoying experience with torontojdm. Soon after buying my car it went in for some enhancements. I purchased my down pipe from torontojdm. Too me it made sense. They sell jdm equipment and I have a jdm car. Well the damn thing didn't fit without being modified because of the steering shaft. I should have just purchased an HKS unit.

Anyway, it could have just been a one off. You can have a bad experience anywhere. I would not rule out tiger. You seem to know a bit a bout the car already. So you might be able to spot ones that are not mechanically sound.

Yes, its more the car itself rather than the importer. All they do is import. The only difference is many of them likely go for the cheapest car, then jack up their profit margin.

Right drive looks reputable, but it also seems they are asking too much for what they give.

Like I said originally, I think when I've got enough cash, I will just look around for one being sold private, hopefully with some tasteful mods from someone who didn't kill it and try and get the best price.

check this out http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et-v...AdIdZ166644200

minus the wing, this car looks to be not bad. interesting skirts too. not a huge fan of that front bumper, but look at the work he's put into it and the asking price. not bad it seems. anyone know this car?

and Double J let me know when you've got some time and I'll gladly zip up to Cambridge

Few things....

I do not like the spoiler at all but each there own.

Why did he not post it on here.....

Rotary Dynamics built my car as well so I am sure they could verify this car.

It does has a good starting point. Not too many mods but a decent build. He didn't mention if it was ported or not.

I do not know that ecu, seems like most people go powerFC.

jpi is a very good company a few friends have bought some skylines and a supra off him.. i live just outside of ottawa also but theres a reason they dont import as many as other places there cars are normally all in perfect condition and flawless give or take a few very minor things..

i would not recommend torontojdm though however tiger i do as there another good importer..they have more imperfections..body part cracks dings scratches but if you are planning to kit or paint it youll save a nice chunk of money aswell
