Throw-out bearing shaft question..
My main question is, my throw-out bearing shaft is a bit worn and pitted (see attached picture) and was wondering what grease I should use on the shaft (see story for details lol)
And the story,
Bought a new stage 1 clutch kit for my fd for obvious symptoms of a warn out clutch. Just recently tore it all apart and when I get the transmission out I see that the inside of the bellhousing is covered in carbon/oil residue. Infact everything was covered in thick black carbon from either one of the two causes; either the oil pan leak the car had when I bought it seeped into the bellhousing and gummed everything up OR the previous owner just failed to clean the bellhousing the last time the clutch was changed, which was not long ago because there's a "like-new" daikin (dk) clutch kit installed. But obviously it has failed to work properly because of the carbon smeared on the friction surfaces... wasn't happy to find this out.
So I had to clean everything up and now I need some new grease for my shaft.. lol What grease should I use and don't tell me so spit on it !

Definitely replace that input shaft/throwout bearing support. You don't want the throwout bearing to get hung up on it and have to pull the transmission out again. The best grease for
anything to do with the throwout bearing, shift forks etc is molybdenum based grease.
I like to put it on the bearing surface of the throwout bearing, pressure plate fingers, shift fork pivot point. It works great to prevent noises and properly lubricate those parts. It lasts a long time as well..just light coatings on moving parts though don't want that stuff on the disc.

^^Agreed, sorry for not being specific. A popular choice is Valvoline SynPower Synthetic Grease, which should also be pretty easy to find, and considered to be among the best. And yea, like we've already said, be sure to replace that throw-out bearing shaft. Even if it does "work", anywhere that isn't shiny will cause accelerated wear since it's not smooth and slippery & will only cause increased friction & you'll have to crack open that tranny again before you know it. The part shouldn't be all that expensive either.

Certainly agree with what you guys said, I will call mazda on Monday nd order one. I did remember I have a spare transmission but the chances of the spare shaft being in any better shape isn't good.
I went to Canadian tire and bought mobil1 wheel bearing grease. It seemed to be the best on the shelf and said it's good on applications of high friction loads, heat and all that other good stuff.
I'm on the right track now, Thanks guys !
