One question:

Who did you get your motor from?

Random guy that had it for a few years that was planning build a drag car but never did. A friend of a friend basically.

Couldn't sleep last night so I decided to make my timing map for the 20b . It's pretty much set for 30 PSI on pump, though I'll probably never run that high.

Marco,

Out of curiosity, how did you determine your timing map without running the motor on a dyno? Also, how are you able to run 30psi of boost on pump gas?

Andrew.

Because I've been tuning rotaries for a few years now and know what porting I'm going to use as well as the target powerband :P. As for the 30 PSi on pump gas, that requires a lot of water/meth being injected into the intake . Not something I would ever run on the circuit (at least not without spare motors to pop in when something goes wrong) as the only thing keeping your motor from grenading at that point is the injection but would be fun for a few pulls here and there with the necessary failsafes in place.

LOL, I'm not gonna blow it up :P.

I passed by Can-Saf's Steve Kan dyno day this evening and took a video of a pull of their 20b beast. Think they had it at 19 PSi before a major boost leak developed. 20b sounds so mean in person, I want, I want . Little motivation hehe

You can not appreciate the sound of that car in a video. What a difference in real life. At idle it sounded like a low rumbling V8, and at WOT it got crazy loud!

At first marco and I wanted to enjoy the exhaust sounds at WOT. As it climbed in the rpm band, I completely pussied out and plugged my ears. Marco hung in a bit better, but he kept inching back further and further from the car lol

Damn it got loud in there

Love it already! I want a ride when it's done! On a serious note though, I'd like to be there when you build the engine. I'd like to get some hands on experience with a 20B. I've done the 13B build so now it's time to step up. Who knows, the 20B mounts are still in my Rx-4.... It might see a 3rd rotor some day.

That makes a bit more sense, cooling down the combustion temperatures.
What are you running at WOT for advance? Might get you to look at my map over the winter if your interested, I need to get a bit more midrange, on race gas the turbo spool up is slower cause my egt's came down.

Looking forward to seeing your beast go!

Andrew.

Shoot me a PM and/or e-mail (thewird@yahoo.com) the map. Race gas obviously needs more timing then pump. What you using, MS109?

Andrew,
You should make a appointment with Marco to tune your car, he’s been tuning my car for 4 years now with out a failure, I have nothing but good to say about him and his knowledge of tuning and trouble shooting these cars

With a helping hand and strong guidance from the Canadian motherland....TheWird has my car buzzing along @ 23.5psi (via Datalogit) on 93oct pump gas and water injection.

I'm running 285s tires and they're are still no match in 3rd gear...even with a passenger. Comes on stronnggggggg.

The crazy thing is...I live in the US. Who is this guy!?

That 20b is in for a treat.

Well I'll be looking for you to tune my car once I get the last of the parts in.

I've been in a holding pattern for a while since some of my stuff is backordered for months.

(Can't put in fuel system until air pump is deleted... can't delete air pump because greddy pulley kit is on back order)

+ 1 for Marco, tuned so far at 16 PSI, going up next spring once I have my W/M kit installed.
I run my setup minus the airpump without the greddy kit.
I'm waiting on my Greddy pully kit and PR Air pump eliminator kit.

I don't think we're too "cheap" as we pay more for gas, insurance, tickets and on top of that have higher taxes.

We also pay more for our cars, and the parts (and the duties when importing). Also, they're population is 11x ours.

So yah, we're either all pussies or didn't get any bailouts :P

No thanks.

But back on topic, I see you have a PFS sp. Who does PFS use for tuning?
I've heard amazing things about them, just curious.

Oh, also, + 11 for Marco's tuning abilities.

Marco I'm running 50/50 mix right now of profuels 110 octane and 91 shell. Did that this year because I didn't like the egt's I was seeing. The ignition map hasn't been tuned properly, it was a base map I got years ago. Only tuned the fuel last year. I'll email it to you with info on the motor.

Thanks,
Andrew.
