Tear Down of my Blown 13B
Tore down my blown 13B today. We knew there was something messed with the front rotor. What we found was something........different from what we thought. Being both of us who took it apart being our first tear down, it was quite an adventure. Cause was it ran dry of oil under EXTREME LOAD.
Heres alot of pics detailing what we found. Let the Hilarity ensue. Remember, its the front rotor thats damaged. This motor had approximitly 40,000 or so kms.
Thanks to Nubian for providing a roof and a helping hand.

The bearing in the front broke free of the rotor and adhered itself to the e-shaft. We were looking for the bearing for the rotor and it was on the e-shaft. We easily removed it. The rotor itself 'walked' back and forth between irons and basically the corner seals and side seals are now permanently part of the rotor. Both Irons are done. Rotor housings may be good, Im going to check if they are in spec tomorrow. Same with the e-shaft. Other than some heat marks, it looks fine. Check that for spec. Both Stationary gears look un-damaged, except for the bearing in the rear one. My dumbass self damaged it.
So Im going to be in the market for some parts soon. Just gotta figure out what my next build is. Probably 4-Port Bridgeport N/A.

I bought this engine as a street ported engine and its pretty evident that its not street ported, or at least to any template that I've ever seen. I also noticed it was supposed to be an S4 engine. I think one of the rotor housings is S4. I know the endplate is not. The front looks like its from an S3 (GSL-SE). The centerplate on the other hand looks like its from an S4.
Kind of dissapointing to find this. Oh well, at least I didnt break the bank a year ago when I bought it. Accually, thats funny. It was last january when I bought this motor. huh.
Anyways.

Cleaned up the carbon on both rotors, clean up the rotor housings and e-Shaft.
Obviously 1 rotor is toast. The 'good' one has some imperfections but its usable. However, the bearing needs replacement.
E-Shaft is toast. Theres gouging on the front lobe.
Housings are good enough, but they need to be coated. Off to JHB they go!
