A couple months ago when there was that accident on the 401 where the Mazda3 jumped the barrier and hit another car (or something like that)... I was stuck in traffic for a good 2.5 hours and when I got to the accident it wasn't even blocking the express lanes, all that was just caused by people slowing almost to a stop just to look at it. What I couldn't understand was why, after sitting in traffic for almost 3 hours, the people in front of me were STILL slowing and rubbernecking all the way from the left lane in the express! I was blowing my horn at the guy in front of me and he looked at me like he didn't understand why I was doing it. Mind-boggling.

Yesterday during rush hour on Woodbine Ave south of 7, I'm behind a Red Mini Van the guys in the left lane and is constantly putting on his brakes ???. He finally moves over to the middle lane and low and behold there's not a person in front of him for a 1000 feet, as I pass him I look to see what the idiot's problem is, maybe he's on a cell phone, having a snack, whatever. No a new one for me, both hands are off the wheel and he's flossing his teeth while driving. I'm starting to think all the mercury in the environment is just making people stupid!

By the way about a year ago same street I saw a guy in the morning brushing his teeth while driving his $150,000 Mercedes, and I thought that was the new low but this tops it.

Let's hear yours!

I've been a trucker for 5 years so I've seen a few doozies. One that stands out is a few years ago I was driving the freeway loop around Memphis and this black guy in a K-Car came zipping around me. He was moving oddly in his lane and when he got in front of me I could see he was "dancing". He kept letting go of the wheel and putting his hands above his head in a weird rythmic fashion.

This week I almost ran a minivan off the road on the 401. There's a reason a lot of trucks have signs on the trailers that say "Do Not Pass On Right Side" I had moved over to let a car merge, because I'm nice like that, and the minivan driver was in too much of a hurry to let me get safely in front of the car before moving back over. I didn't see them when I checked my mirror until they were half on the dirt shoulder. It's one thing to pass a truck on the right side that is blatantly just sitting in the left or middle lane. I do that in the truck or in the car. But I wait to see if they are going to move over, and I'll "drift" into the right lane to see if there's a reason they are sitting in the left/middle lane before passing them. If it's wide open and they have shown no sign of moving back over then I go. Completely different if I've moved over to let a car on the freeway. My truck is very long so it takes up a lot of space, so understanding that I move if I can. However some people need to understand that it takes a lot more for me to get up to speed, so slowing down to let them on is the last option. If I can I move over, if not it's up to you to either slow down and come in behind me or speed up. I've seen people hit their brakes at the end of an on-ramp when they were already 20 feet or more in front of me. They don't understand that when your going 80, it takes a slight push on the throttle and you'll be doing 110 in front of me and can merge smoothly.

I swear they should make car mounted traffic cameras.

It would hook up to the volunteer drivers vehicle and monitor speed, brake% and other factors.

Then when the driver sees/experiences bullshit, they push a button and it reports it.
get a few hundred of these thing going and the shitty drivers would be off the road.

Only problem is I'm not sure I'd want the authorities knowing how fast I drive all the time.

It would also raise ticket volumes, so the police should be all over it.

I have man stories, Ill chime in on one today.

Im heading on a highway on-ramp today. Im following a volvo s-60 type R. very nice car, and fast, Ive driven one before.... but man this guy was going slow... dangerously slow...

Its a two way highway (traffic in both directions) and only one lane each side.. I take a good look behind me to see if there is any cars that may make it hard to merge on the highway.. Theres a good line of cars, and to my judgement the driver in the volvo will make it in, but I wont.

He begins to merge at the very begining of the highway access, going about 55km an hour... So I think, ahhh perfect... Ill just book it down the rest of the onramp and get on the highway at a safe speed, between 90-100 km.

He starts mergeing, so I downshift to second and start booking it.... Until he is fully in the other lane I wont pass him, and well the only way Im getting on the highway at this point is by passing him on the on-ramp... He chooses to stay mid lane for about 100meters, and well Im running out of space to make my pass... to top it off there are about 6 cars lined up bumper to bumper behind him as he is halfway on the high way....There is not way im getting on the highway behind him, not without coming to a complete stop and waiting for all the other cars to clear (which is another stupid thing, I wouldnt have a problem if someone would have given me a chance to merge behind him)

I admit, I got a little pissed, thankfully I was in my focus and dont really care about riding in the gravel, so I decided to book it half on the road, half on the gravel shoulder just to be able to get on the highway.... I had enough room to be on the road and on the paved section of the shoulder but I was not taking any chances with this guy. I made it passed him, with enough room to merge onto the on ramp then onto the highway, at a safe highway speed.

That has to be my biggest ****-off of all time, I personally feel its very dangerous to enter the highway at a low speed, Ive seen so mamy accident at that one on-ramp... its bad because the over pass is a nice hill and you have restriceted view of whats going to be coming over the hill... If its a fully loaded transport truck and someone is heading onto the highway at 55km an hour, it will be lucky if the transport diver is able to slow down enough.

Another bad thing I saw was a fully loaded transport in front of me on a queensway highway... I saw him weaving a little, so I kept my distance, even though people were getting a little pissed behind me for slowing down a little... I had good reason, about 5 seconds after I gave some distance he took the gravel shoulder, at about 100km an hour. Fresly laid gravel, nice and loose like a goose... He started to jackknife, about 45+ degrees, ripping up a little grass in the ditch while hes at it. I was very impressed with his skills on recovery, I could hear the mega down shifting, jake brake coming on with a little tapping of his brakes... He made it back on safe and sound, but I saw his load shifted pretty bad, putting a lot of stress on his tie downs.. I tried flashing my lights, putting my flasher on to let him know he is going to lose his load... He wasnt taking my signals to pull over so I wait and find a good spot to pass him and try to flag him down.. When I get along side of him I see he is reaching over into the passeneger side of the cab washing his ******* windows... bahh I was reaming mad..

there are a lot of really stupid drivers out there, I was one of them a few years ago, but to me the only thing you should be doing while driving.... is ******* driving.!

End rant.

They need to make barrier so that you can't see the other side of the highway, or those little dividers like they use on the Gardiner should suffice

Speaking of on-ramp follies:

This was when I was working in Virginia, I was driving the Mx-3 back down. This was the ramp after I got off the 79 and was just getting onto the 76/70 toll road. This was a LONG ramp but a short merge. I'm behind this old lady, she's doing 40-50km/h on this ramp, and I'm ridding her ***, I'm getting edgy, she's not accelerating. The highway is 2 lanes, no shoulders, well, those little sidewalk narrow ones. The fast lane is busy and fast, I can't jump into it, but the slow lane has a transport truck barreling down and I know he can't move over. I'm weaving back and forth, trying to get her to actually accelerate, put pressure on her, but nothing. The ramp is almost ending, I don't like this at all, so I hit the brakes hard, put the car on the narrow shoulder and what's left of the on ramp. All I see is the transport hit the brakes hard and looks like she disappears in front of him, I can only guess inches from her back bumper. I would be been sandwiched between that, I'm just glad to trust my instincts.

THIS!!!! There is absolutely no excuse for slowing down for an accident on the other side of a divided highway unless there are emergency workers that could be in danger of being hit by vehicles on your side. Yesterday I was held up in Milton by such an accident. Looked like a pickup somehow T-boned a minivan. Couldn't tell you how that would happen, but the pickup had it's nose crunched in and the side of the van was torn to pieces. I think I even saw the trucks driveshaft broken and hanging from the diff. The sad thing is I shouldn't have been going slow enough to see all that long enough to remember it, but the looky-loos had to have a gander. Idiots!

lady driving while folding clothes talking on the cell phone and yelling at her kids while merging three lanes across the road in front of me. All in front of a cop who did not pull her over. When we called the cops the laughed and said "oh well"

a couple months ago i was driving in london, it was 3 lanes on my side of the road and 60km/h speed limit, and im in the far left lane because i was going to be turning left a few kms down the road and i get stuck behind behind this guy doin 40km/h for over a km with absolutley noting but open road infront of him. so I finally see a big enough gap I could accellerate to the speed limit between cars goin 60-70km/h and the light changed ahead so we were all comming to a stop, I had my 10 month old in the back so I had alittle over a car length between me and the car ahead incase we came to a quick stop and the guy who i was just stuck behind for over a km goin 20 under the speed limit wants to try to cut over infront of me, so I closed the gap so he couldnt get in, then the guy calls me a dumb ****,so i informed him of the speed limit
lol it took me long enough to be able to get out from behind the retard im sure as hell not goin to just let him back infront of me.
hahaha

I don't know about all the mercury in the atmosphere making people, my theory is all the lead in the water. i know london had a problem a few years ago with high lead concentrations in the water hahaha

Before 1953, lead was commonly used as a service pipe material. Houses built after 1952 used copper, and more recently, plastic for water service pipes. Today, fewer than 10 per cent of London homes are serviced by a lead pipe. The Ontario Drinking Water Standard for lead is 10 micrograms per litre. This means that water with a lead concentration below this Standard does not represent a health hazard. The water flowing through London's Distribution System has a very low level of lead; less than 1 microgram per litre. Houses that do not have a lead service pipe will receive water that also contains this low level of lead. If, however, water travels through a lead pipe between the water main and the house, it has the opportunity to pick up trace amounts of lead from the interior surface of that pipe. In 2006, the City of London decided to offer free lead testing of tap water for Londoners who live in older homes that may have lead service pipes, despite the fact that Ontario regulation only required municipalities to test for lead in samples from the distribution system. The Nov/Dec 2006 "Enviroworks" flyer that accompanied London's Hydro and Water Bills was dedicated to the topic of lead service pipes and the offer of free lead testing was publicized. Since then, the City of London has tested water samples from almost 9,000 London homes. Most of the houses sampled did not have lead service pipes and, consequently, had very low levels of lead in their water. Those houses that did have lead service pipes were found to have higher levels of lead, often exceeding the 10 microgram per litre Standard.

this is another article for provincial The Ontario government announced an action plan to reduce lead levels in municipalities across the province, and London's mayor said the recommendations confirms that the city is already taking appropriate action.
