She RUNS!!!
Well, it's been 3 months in the making, but today she started up and ran on her own!
A little recap:
Starting with my little green '85 FB that had previously been converted to '84 vintage 13B power, and '82 vintage black interior we did the following:
Pulled a motor from an '87, cleaned it up, swapped front cover and oil pan from my old 13b, removed the oil pump and emissions, added a ported and painted manifold and throttle body. Dropped it into the car.
Pulled the entire wiring harness from the '87, and the entire wiring harness from the FB. Unwrapped both of them, pulled EVERY unused wire from the FB harness. Cut and re-routed all of the engine control wiring from the '87, removed all of the inputs and outputs that won't be used.
PAINTED the engine bay, MOUTNTED: FC coils, FC fuse box, FC oil cooler.
While we were in there, pulled the brakes, new bearings and rotors, and a couple of other little odd jobs.
Regardless, today it fired up and ran under it's own power. First real attempt at it too! So, we've got a weeks worth of putting together to do, and then it is going to be one HELL of a fast summer!

Nice to hear. How does the engine run. Oil pressures, temps, smoke, etc...., all okay?
Car should fly this year. Just need to get some real wheels and tires on that critter. You will more than likely be able to smoke off those Turkistan/Iranian/Afghan (?) produced tires in the first hard launch, LOL.
Just wait a bit and I should have the S5 setup available for your use as well.

I take it you don't need the pressure regulator then Fedsy??
hehehe...good...because the more I look at the S4 rail I think Im going to bore it out ti save converting all the lines....
glad to hear she is ALIVE!! -moooo hahahaha.....
now I need to get my buns in gear and bring life to my baby...

Spanx everyone!
23racer hooked us up with a pressure regulator. Worked good once I cleaned off all the red paint *cough*RICER*cough*.
I couldn't see the gauges, as I was holding the throttle open with my hand to keep it running, though Kristen tells me everything was great.
Rich: this weekend is pooched. Pick a night next week, and we'll hook it up.

I don't know, I thought the red paint looked nice against the gold anodized fuel rail. They both looked real nice against my "Fake" Gold Anodized ported throttle body with the Edelbrock decal. LOL.
Oh yeah I forgot my black painted stock Mazda Injectors with the little Edelbrock decals on them. It is amazing how often I have been asked where someone could buy those parts.
Got to keep them guessing Jamie. A stock port, stock ecu S4 shouldn't go as fast as we get this old heap to peddle. Give them some fake obvious things and they don't see the real stuff.
A little knowledge from an old racer.

Progress updates: Wires are all taped and routed. All ancillaries are hooked up, all of the shields are in place, Battery is 90% relocated. Pretty much the battery, throttle cable, and interior left.
Woot.
Then I've got a couple of piston projects to take care of...

Missed it by thiiiiis much
Started doing the tune up on the motor (in case you haven't been paying attention, this means that the battery is relocated, and the throttle cable is connected.
Hooked up the timing gun (which took me a second or two, since I didn't have a battery under the hood to hook it to...). She's a little late, even with the CAS rotated all the way anti-clockwise. Looks like I slipped it a tooth when installing.
Other than that, 10-15 minutes of solid runing (can't rememer, I'm a little light headed from the premix). No leaks, no stalls, no burnt wires. Really just beautiful.
I do need to make some shorter ignition wires. The ones from the dizzy are WAY to long with my relocated coils. Makes for a bit of a mess on the drivers side.
This time next week, We'll be driving...
