But I can't seem to find any posts for the May Calgary Meet? Unless we haven't scheduled one yet.

Thanks

I am trying to encourage Chev to repeat last year's successful meet. His intentions are for June.

Chev wants to know what you run so he knows if he can beat you or not.

I've never missed a shift yet. :P

Can I offer you guys some free unsolicited, uneducated advice?

Get the aluminum flywheel. Seriously, for these reasons.

1. Your engine picks up revs a LOT quicker.

2. More torque.

3. Cut weight off your car

4. Since the flywheel has less inertia it also has less momentum. This lets your RPM's drop MUCH faster to match the speed of the next gear saving a lot of syncro wear and missed shifts.

5. Your car is much more responsive. Not only accelerating but also decelerating which saves a lot of braking and offers better speed management.

While in drag racing a heavier flywheel can offer a better launch, once your foot is off the clutch there's only DIS-advantage.

Ask dansuxx, we both have 12a's. Both are 85 models. Both have rb headers. Both have stock carbs and intake, but only he has the streetport. In theory he should beat me regularly but he doesn't.

The equalizer is bolted onto the back of my eshaft.

Gary is running an S5 rotating assembly, which has a little less weight than most of the other rotating assemblies. I think the Flywheels are a few pounds lighter.

Mind you, Gary doesnt usually miss shifts.

I think Chev was distracted by his go-kart special steering wheel. His excuse for installation was that it gave more leg room to get in and out. Obviously you havent found the tilt steering latch.

Mind you, I shouldn't complain. I can't even fit in my car with my helmet on.

I don't know about Chev, but some guys get those wheels to keep their girlfriends head from hitting the steering wheel.

Some pretty fast street cars out. Soon it wont be the 1/4 mile anymore. It will be the 1/2 mile. They will need more room because production cars will run 10's from the factory.

maybe put my Top mount IC to a V-mount position and run without a hood

I'd be worried of hitting a bad pothole and bending something since there's no give. If it were to be a track only car I'd say go for it.

I've decided to take my white 82 and turn it into a track car and winter beater. I was pulling up the carpet today because I knew that the car had some rust issues and I wanted to see how bad things were. It's not that bad at all but there is a 6 inch by 1 inch hole in each wheel well and a little surface rust on the inside of the floorpan.

I was talking to this kid yesterday at the boneyard about our 7's when he asked me if I raced. I mentioned I'd been to secret street the night before and he replied he raced his 7 in some class that required a licence before you can race. It cost $200 he said. He said he was racing this sunday with a bunch of other 7's on the road course.

That sounded like a helluva lot of fun to me so I decided that's what I'm doing next summer.

When I bought the car it weighed over 1080 KG because that's what it weighed after I brought it home and ripped out the a/c. I used the scale just east of hiway 9 on the #1.

I just weighed it again and it came in at 980 kg That's roughly 220 lbs. difference. And you can really tell the difference driving it. Not only in power to weight, but also in handing and braking. Especially braking.

There's some law of physics that states that if you double the speed, (or weight) 4x the braking force is required..... or something along those lines. Knocking off 10% of the car's weight made a huge difference in stopping distances. Can't wait for steel braided lines.

Tomorrow I'm relocating the battery to the passenger side where the bin used to be to lower my center of gravity and clean up the engine bay while balancing the car better. Will also be removing the rear wiper and motor, rear washer fluid resevoir and pump, electric antena, hatch struts and the rest of the sound proofing.

I think hes talking about the Wheat Buckley challange car cup. I think I have a rulebook/spec book lying around.

Essentially the main rule is that it has to be a FACTORY STOCK RX-7. You can rip anything un-essential out. And it requires the usual safety **** like a roll cage.

Only mods you can get away with are Street Ported motor and a Racing Beat ROAD RACE header. Everything else from rims, brakes, body, carb and intake. Everything else has to be stock.

However, suspension is unlimited.
