Second trip to Targa Newfoundland
We competed in Targa last year as a once in a life time adventure. It really is a life changing event. Well we are going back. For some reason the good folks (David and Lorraine) at L. A. Detail figure we should do it again and have sponsored team Gooch and the 85 RX7 for 2007. Even better, take a look at what they got GETWRAPPED.CA to do to the car.
L.A Detail ran the RX8 last year. Mazda is sending the RX8 back again this year (it is blue now) and a Mazda 3 driven by the Racer Chicks. Check out the Targa site at www.targanewfoundland.com This is an event that anyone who is into cars should try. It is expensive, but attainable by most "average guys" if you can get the wife to buy into it as a holiday and shopping trip to Newfoundland .

hey, is your name dave gooch?
did you have a black early 1st gen with red stripes last year?
if so, I SAW YOU ON TV lol.
I also saw the 944 that went swimming.
And the next show they had on was a rally from B.C where there was a red FC getting stuck in the crazy mud they had there.
I really want to go to targa, maybe in a few years I'll be able to make that kind of trip. I need some more performance driving experience first before I try and attend something like that, so I don't end up in the ocean or something like that 944 guy did.

Under the "buble wrap" it is the same black and red car!
Jake is the driver (son) and I (Mike, dad) am the navigator, We just did a bit of solo 2 and some TSD rallys to get propared. If you think you might like to go sometime try out the Open Road Motorsport Targa School at Mosport run by Glen Clark (he was the winner overall last year). That was the only track time that we had before going to Targa, and it does help to qualify you for a rally licience. What you realy need is a good navigator. I think Jake will trade me in on a newer model if we ever manage to pull this thing of again in the future.

no-name....not yet, but hope too. We have worked route controle at a couple.
classicauto......that went into the vert, but would have been a good idea. The 12a keept us out of the ditch (I hope) were all the rocks are kept.
We shook the car down at Shannonville with the Mazda sponsored RX8 and the Hybrid Lexas last night and did the same at Dunnville Monday night with a group of "local" Taga entrants. The car and drive are performing well, but the navigator is a bit shakey.
I don't think it would be possible for a man and his kid to have more fun!

Well we made it back in one piece. We finished with a silver plate once again. We did hit a guard rail on day 4 but recovered and finished the stage within plate time.(Navigato error). On the way back through the same (Marrystown)stage in the afternoon we did a spectacular spin on some loose gravel (driver error) but he pulled it back around without even stopping and again managed to clear plate time. Here is a short video just after we passed the "Turtle" car.

Congrats on the finish in the rally. I've always wanted to go, seeing as all my relatives live and help official the section through marystown and burin.
