bad news. i fucked up my brakes this weekend doing some long hard driving in the hot weather. now the car pulls to one side under hard braking and there is a pretty horrible grinding noise...

i thought i could hold off on putting in my rebuilt calipers and new rotors that i have lying around, but looks like i am going to HAVE to do it. i won't be able to make it down to BC meet unless i do this...damn wish i could take some time off work.

Unless those bolts that hold in the rotors are badly seized, you ought to be able to do a least one side in an evening. Our calipers are very service-friendly, ya know.*

On a not-so-happy note, I have to withdraw from the Cruise. More urgent matters, closer to home, beckon. I will be spending the weekend elsewhere.

So now that couch at Bass' is free again.

I'll be thinking of you guys! And remember to keep it rubber-side down!

OK, just got the price for Autocross and Gymkhana from CSCS.
The two are a package deal with Autocross from 10:00am to 2PM and Gymkhana from 2pm onwards.

The regulaar cost is
Admission of $17 plus $10 = $27
But RX Club prepaid is $10 plus $5 = $15

Prepayment window is extended till Thursday at Midnight. Paypal charngill@osgoode.yorku.ca the cost of what you wish to do plus 3% for paypal fees.

Look further back in the thread for the preferred pricing on Drag etc.

Bass, any idea of the route and times you will using for the Saturday cruise? I will be in Port Elgin most of the day then I have to attend a dinner in Sauble that evening. Weather permitting I hope to have my RX out that day. I don't think I will have time to meet in Walkerton but I wouldn't mind hooking up along the way.

Sadly I will not be able to make it to the BC cruise. My car is having tranny/clutch problems and it won't be fixed in time. So I guess the bed I reserved is now free. It really sucks cause I was looking forward to this. I hope everyone has a good time.

Well when I talked to them they said that they would be willing to keep the autocross going longer if that was what the majority wanted to do. So voice your opinion when you're there. I will lobby for the same.

And guys preferred paypal is up tomorrow night so please take advantage of the discount. My paypal again is charngill@osgoode.yorku.ca.

I now know the route inside and out, as I've spent the last three days driving different parts of it and changing a few turns here and there in the interest of views and twisty roads.

Basically, we will be leaving Walkerton at !:00 and taking the "airport road" ie Marle lakes through to the Ayton/Keady road.
Then over to Desboro and up to Springmount. Then through the West side of Owen Sound hooking up with the Balmy Beach road (Grey Road 1) along the coast and ending up in Wiarton.

From there, over to Oliphant along Bruce road 13, down south along the coast (Bay road) and catching the Sauble Falls Parkway until the Sauble Falls Park. Then we catch Sauble Falls road down through to Lakeshore ending at the main gate of Sauble Beach. Then main st. up to the lights and taking Southampton pkwy. Then the flagpole in Southampton and catch Huron st and follow the coast as the road turns into North Shore road.

Then to the main gate of Port Elgin beach and up Green to Goderich (st). Then down to Bruce road 25 and left onto Lake range road. Then a bunch of turns past Bruce nuclear and into Kincardine.

Then, take hiway 9 until Kinloss where we make a left onto Bruce road 1 up through Paisley (unless someone needs to go to Walkerton) and over to my place in Chesley. (22 4th st S W) just off of main street up the hill past the post office heading south.

Whew...

Then there's the route to Grand Bend"...ah...but that's another story" (a la Hammy Hamster)

I don't know if anybody needs to go back through Walkerton at the end of Saturday's cruise, if not there's a nice route from Kincardine back to my place. What I was mainly thinking about was people carrying food in their cars through the cruise. Perhaps we should plan to stop at Sobey's in Kincardine and buy steak, hamburger, etc... there. It's about a 1/2 hour back to Chesley from there. Chesley's grocery store will be open to 6 but it blows chunks compared to Sobey's. Nismo, what are the hours for the beer store/LCBO in Kincardine? I'm not sure what time they close on Saturday in Chesley. I'll have to check.

I don't know about keeping ice in a cooler and taking hairpin coolers. That has bad idea written all over it. As for the CSCS thing on sunday, I'm not sure i want to be staying so the couch maybe freeing up at your place BASS.

One Suggestion, I think we should have designated wait points for people who want to have slower paces, or worse mechanical problems so that no one gets left behind. AS well as directions directly to your place (BASS) so that if someone needs to bail 1/2 through the cruise they can end up back at your place.

We'll have everyone taken care of. We have a few people leading different portions of the cruise, plus I put up the general directs in this thread. We'll have FRS and cell as well.

My address is 22 4th street South West, Chesley.

lcbo and beer store hours in Kincardine are till 9:30 am to 6:00 lol

as for the grand bend cruise i have found a decent detour past goderich because, the only bridge in town is down to one lane, nice and twisty, it is also a redusde fine zone 90km/h

I'm suggesting that people pick up their BBQ meat, munchies and booze near the end of the cruise (in Kincardine) to take back to my place to enjoy without worrying about food spoilage or DUI spoilage.

With that being said, I would suggest that people bring along a cooler to put your stuff in so that it stays nice and cold for the drive from Kincardine to Home Bass. That's about a 1/2 hour cruise.

how hard is the cruise route on brakes?
i inspected my brakes last night. it looks like the passenger side rear pad is worn down, and my driver side front caliper piston is blown. i almost have all the parts, but don't know if i will have the time.
but i might still drive down...

How long will the cruise take? I'm thinking of heading over to Varney for some circle track action, and races start at 7!

The cruise doesn't call for any major braking for hills or anything.

The cruise starts at 1 pm and will take approximately 4 hours...give or take.

I'm going to be the first person and therefore the scape goat. I'm not showing up if it's raining. I have no interest in taking break neck corners with 10 other rx7s behind me in the pouring rain. That just isn't a good idea no matter what excuse I can up with to show up.

How about this then?

This Cruise is going to be a bona fide CRUISE, not a rally as has been experienced elsewhere in the past.

If you're "taking break neck corners" you'll be doing it alone. This is a Cruise for the sake of the drive, the comraderie and the scenery. People wanting to test their mad kwik driving skillz can save it for Sunday at Grand Bend.

This has been discussed repeatedly among the RX Club Committee and the conclusion each time has been unanimous - we don't want a repeat of past disasters and police attention. We want attendees to enjoy themselves and actually be able to look around at the world outside without risking life and limb.

To be blunt: those planning to come to this Event and treat the Cruise like a race should do everyone a favour and go somewhere else on Saturday.

Amur, isn't that what everyone keeps on saying in the past events? So then the people who go slow get tagged by the the cops because 10 rx7s went zooming by and 5 got left behind and the 5 look exactly the same as the 10 then zoomed away....

The above reason is exactly why I hardly ever show up to these events.

well, from the start, we have said any one that wants to get stupid, will be going home, because we have to drive these roads, and it being a small community, word spreads, and there being few rx7's around it's pretty easy to pin point. also we discusted about not handing out a map so that no one would be able to race ahead, this way they have to follow the leader.
