Here is a link to the new mazda comercial on YouTube. I spotted it on TV yesterday watching the weather.

I saw that commercial too the other day but didn't catch the beginning of it. I just saw rotors and was glued to the screen after that. Great commercial! Hopefully the rotary will have new life in the company soon.

The concept car in that video is known as the SHINARI. Using the same design of flow as in the Furai.

Awesome. Thanks Mazdabation for the Shinari photos and vid link. I like its styling much better than the Furai, looks much more harmonious, less busy and overwrought. Of course, a new RX8 or RX7 with a more powerful and efficient rotary (16x) would be real mana for this believer.
Completely off topic, but I wonder if Mazda could offer a 16x crate motor. That could be awesome, but they'd probably rather sell new Mazda's than help keep our old ones going.

Hope like hell this is not the next RX-? incarnation ......... a four door, four seater sport sedan. A far cry from the RX-7 or RX-8, sure not for me IMHO.
Looks like Hyundai Genesis 4 door concept:

BTW you really think the shinari looks liked that hideous pos?

Front of the car looks way too busy. The Hyundai looks like a Pokemon character with its tongue (tongues?) sticking out. Roof line is the same as the Jag XF and sides are the same as the Genesis. Decent car, but way too Beyblade/Transformers for me.
Not a ground breaking design. Look at what Europe is doing. Cleaner crisper lines (thank God the Bangle period is almost over), way more masculine cars. This offering is still way to busy on the front end with cut lines and broken openings everywhere. Looks very Japanese and almost "Dome" like. I do love the way that the wheels and tires fill out the wheel arches and the middle of the car. Its just the ends that really grind on me.

I could rock that Shinari with a 1.6X turbo with a 6 speed transmission and weigh less then 3,000 pounds. Concept just needs to be brought down to actual cosmetic form and it would work wonders. The overall concept is good imo. Those empty areas on the front bump need some big holes for dual oil coolers ^_^

23racer - agree the front of the Shinari is too busy around the grill and lights, and those elements wouldn't seem likely to make production. But the I think the basic shape is good, and the rest of the car rocks.
Is that a RX-8-like rotor shape in the trailing edge of the hood? I do kind of hope Mazda has another RX-7/8 style sports car in store for us, not "just" a sports sedan. Although my fondness for, and BMW's success with the 3 series sedans/coupes might make sense financially for a smaller manufacturer like Mazda.

Here's another one with a bunch of rotary content, featuring every generation of RX-7:

Mazda Canada needs to tell their person in charge of YouTube to catch up with approving comments. It's a big middle finger to all of us who have replied with "I drive an RX-7...." to have our comments remaining in moderator limbo.
