Rotary & Miata Madness at Mosport June 17-19!!!
It's time for Canada's first glimpse of the RX8 in full race trim. June 17th through 19th is Father's Day weekend at Mosport and if you choose to attend you're in for a great time. Series participating include: The Grand Am Cup, Miata Cup, Honda Michelin Challenge, Cascar, Ontario GT, Formula 1200, and Cup Lites.
Take a look at the preliminary entry list for Grand Am Cup here:
http://www.grandamcup.com/
8 Mazda RX8’s!!!!
13 Porsche 996’s
8 Bmw M3’s
+ Mustangs, Cadillac’s, Z4’s... 45+ Cars!!!
Of course the 8's are in the slower group... lol
3 Hour Race though, you never know!
Tickets and more information here:
http://www.mosport.com/roadhome.htm
And the schedule is here:
http://www.scca.com/_filelibrary/fil...a-schedule.pdf
I'm working with the Miata Cup and will probably camp Friday and Saturday nights if anyone wants to roast marshmallows. Should be around 20,000 at the track so parties aplenty. Start planning now! Contact me to set up mutual campgrounds.
Ticket prices go up June 15th.
Is anybody else having trouble posting? Damn Proxy crap....

Kind of. Here is how Mosport works...
If you have a superticket ($40 in advance for the entire weekend) then you can pretty much come and go as you please. If you watch the Grand Am Cup race on Sat. from 3 til' 6 or whatever it is then stick around to bbq or for a beer then you don't need a camping pass. Camping passes are good for up to 6 people and only cost $30 for those interested. BUT I have NEVER seen Mosport staff check for camping passes of those people who appear to be staying on the grounds or just hanging around longer after the on track activities.
Also, bring your blades or bike and do a lap of the track once it goes cold. Mosport is one of the rare tracks that gives you access to the circuit after the days activities. I watched a guy go down corner two in a shopping cart last year... must have been alcohol induced!

I've been looking forward to this. Guaranteed I'll be there.
Usually hang around 2 (however it's gotten crowded over the years); outside of 1; or at the bottom of 4 up into 5 (that's my new favourite spot). I watched ALMS there about 5 years ago and absolutely nobody stood down there, but it's filling up now too. That spot gives a good contrast between the speed they carry down and the braking power uphill. Also it's one of the only places you can get level with the track; it give you a better sense of the speeds.

We (CASC-ON) Sprint Series are a support race that weekend. My crew and I havent decided if we are going to run, it all depends on the schedule and timne slot they allow us. If we are the also rans (8-9am or 530+pm race and practices we wont go, if the times are good (midday) we probably will.

Do It You Weasel
Al, just checked the schedule and the Ontario Challenge Cup races Bookend the Cascar Race on Sunday. The first 30 minute race is from 10:20 to 10:50 and the second 30 minute is from 4:30 to 5:00. Actually just like a regular regional weekend for you except your races are 30 minutes each versus 20 minutes as per a regular Sprint race. Practice and Qualifying is on Saturday, one session from 10:20 to 10:50.
Coming off your Shannonville success, you should go to Mosport and KICK Some Serious A$$. I would love to see you going into 8 at 240 kmh, whooo hooo!

Looks like my schedule is clear...
Racerjason: Let me know when you plan to be there and at what times and I'll meet ya at the track. I'll try and co-ordinate something w/Neo and we'l swing on by.

After reviewing the schedule for the race weekend, we are going to try for Sunday only. I dont see the point in showing up early Saturday for a 20 minute practice/qualifing at 10:20AM and then doing nothing for the rest of the day. The Ontario Challenge Cup races are at 10:20AM and 4:45pm on the Sunday, and each is a 30 minute race. As usual we will be starting from the back! Weather permitting of course!

Hairy action on track today with weather conditions changing every 20 mins. A few cars had hard offs. Should be a lovely day for racing tomorrow. Here is the qualifying results/starting grid for tomorrow's headliner:
