Regina and Area 7's
#26
I'm from just outside Regina. Working on a 12a blowthrough project on my 82 rx. Hopefully I can get her up and running the summer and do some cruising.
I saw a white SE on the ring road sat night about 9ish. Was that anyone on here? It looked like a really clean car, I was quite impressed.

Hi, guys;
I'm in Moose Jaw, and have a stable of 3; one 86 GXL parts car, and identical 86 GXL that my son is driving, and my 88 Turbo II which I've been modding up seriously over the last few months. Current state of the project: Ported S5 turbo, HKS SMIC, Venom 720 secondaries, ported, polished, modded throttle body, Rtek 1.7 ecu, Racing Beat 3" turbo back exhaust. Nearly finished installing the Greddy Profec B Spec II boost controller, as well as an air/fuel gauge and an analog boost gauge. Stock black-painted wheels (car is black as well) with Falken Ziex 512 225/50's all round.
Good to know there's a few other 7's around!

Hey Benvprov, Were you at a car show last year in regina by the ledge. I had my dads 95 Supra there and I remember seeing a yellow fd there, was that you? If it is, you have a really nice car.
#37
thanks, yeah that was me. Yeah i saw the supra though it was nice. Im doing more this year to my car so i cabt wait. Should have my water meth kit installed in a few weeks, just waiting to get it in the mail. :p
#40
Yup thats me! I knew there couldnt be to many people with a yellow FD. Chances are it was you. Hows your FD doing? If all goes well im moving to Saskatoon for school in the fall, hope to see you ripping around town.
#44
sweet yeah autox seems like fun plus i wont be able to use my FD to much this year so i want to at least use it at the track. Looks like there are quite a few RX-7's in Regina, we defenetly need to all meet up sometime.

And dont forget about the ice racing! (Shamless plug for more car pictures)
Saskatoon has the SSCC to auto X with if your interested. I think there are a few guys on this forum that could tell you more about it. But i hope to keep up autoXing in saskatoon. and maybe coming back to Regina just for the Lumsden track.

T II project almost done
Thought I'd bore you Sask guys with the details of my 88 TII project.
Spent the winter researching and shopping for clutches after frying the stocker with my powertrain upgrades; ended up getting a SPEC Stage II with a kevlar street disc. Very happy with it so far; fairly quick engagement but very smooth. Extremely streetable clutch, and having no difficulty holding my current power levels. Cost a bit less than the ACT street/HD combo.
After getting the clutch installed and starting to drive the car this spring, I noticed a couple of interesting things; I'm not having any problems with flooding on startup now with the Rtek, and haven't had to use the fuel cutoff switch at all. Still a bit rough at first with a cold start, but doesn't die if you take your foot off the gas like it did last fall. The initial roughness is actually kind of a good thing; reminds me to behave myself and stay the hell out of the boost until the car is completely warmed up
Last major thing to do was to finish hooking up the ebc. It was already plumbed into the actuator line when the turbo swap was done. Finished the hookup and did some initial programming, and wound up with very low boost levels. Started checking things in more detail today, after downloading the Greddy manual, and discovered that the ebc solenoid was plumbed incorrectly: used the wrong "in" port (one is used for an actuator type wastegate like the stock S4 and S5 and one for an external wastegate), and had the hoses backwards re: the "in" and "out" ports. For the record; I didn't do the original plumbing, okay? Corrected the plumbing, went for a run, and had my target boost levels (10 psi on "hi" and 8 on "lo") pretty much dialed in with 2 runs.
So...the car's pretty much finished. Over all, I've cleaned up the interior with custom neoprene seat covers, a custom steering wheel recover, Redline leather shift and e-brake boots and an upgraded stereo with a Kenwood self-powered subwoofer. Tires have been upgraded to 225/50's (Falken 512's) on the original rims, with Tokico blues on all corners. Powertrain upgrades include ported S5 turbo, Greddy Profec B Spec II ebc, HKS topmount IC, ported/polished/modded throttle body, 720cc secondary injectors, Rtek 1.7 ecu, FD fuel pump, new plugs and wires, and Racing Beat 3" turbo back exhaust. Still have to install an AF gauge and boost gauge in a pillar pod plus a new O2 sensor and fuel filter I've got ready to go in. After that, a bit of surface rust needs to go, an air deflector needs to go on the sunroof, and a paint job wouldn't hurt, and she's finished.
Right now, I'm really happy with how the car drives; low end throttle response is vastly improved, boost is higher and comes on smoother, the car seems about 50 db quieter and immeasurably nicer sounding with the RB exhaust (better looking too!) and it's just much more pleasant to drive all round. I do think my fuel economy has gone down even more with the mods (is that even possible?) and the absence of dashpots and the secondary throttle butterflies makes things much jerkier if I'm too quick on throttle changes, but these are quibbles; overall the car is just plain better in pretty well every department. Now I just have one little problem; I have a friend who let me drive his WRX STI the other night, and I nearly soiled his seats. That thing is fast. Now I want to be able to match it with the TII. How do you think the car would handle 12 psi? Just wondering...

Its too bad we didnt meet up when i was in saskatoon gtx. Maybe you saw me cruise.
Gerry, I heard about your fc and it sounds pretty amazing, I look forward to seeing it in person. I think 12 psi should do some good and you should have no problem running 12 safely either.
heres an old pic of my FD when I first bought it and got standed with it in the states :p

oh since november, that would explain why I havent seen it around.
I was stranded because the clutch went 30 mins after I bought the car. So I was stranded in the middle of Rochester and Buffalo. kind of sucked and set me back an unexpected 2100 us. But its all good now.
