Python RX7

Just picked up a python rx7. Through searching I have found out little pieces of information, but I was wondering if anyone has any more info (if you are not from the ottawa area, then you may not know what the python rx7 is). And if anyone on here also has one.....

Is that the car with the Viper nose and AMX rear and a small block Chevy in it?

Interesting piece if it is.

Here are a couple pics. I think it was for sale for a while..... Probably due to it being such a unique vehicle with no one available to fix it

Bigg Redd,

Well, the car does match your namesake well!

I don't want to criticize your purchase but Mazda got the Fb about 85% right in the first place. The Python unfortunately doesn't close that 15% gap to perfection.

I remember reading that they used miata headlights in the front body work.
Needs lowered

Haha, I was looking at it tonight and the only thought in my mind was that it needs to be lowered..... One of the changes that may just happen over the winter

Thank you for your opinion. I've had 5 other fb rx7s; 12a, 13b, s4 13b. This is something different, something unique. I like it and am enjoying driving it. I know it is not perfect; I have yet to find any car that is.

I'm hoping to get more info on the product though. Any thoughts on what years they were being produced? I understand that the owner of fibrecan has passed away; are there any of his employees out there that can provide info, etc?

You know, every guy that has an Rx7 has a different car..Period.
Even if it is stock, they have put their "touch" into it somehow.
So for those who go "What the Heck??" there's is always someone looking back at you... wondering where you got "your taste in cars" to do what you did to yours(or the guy that had it before you and you now own)....lol!

(answer: you don't have to like it..because it is MINE!..go get your own!)

It does look fast.,.standing still though...haha!

I'm thinking back in 199?-2003 timeframe. Possibly the website said they were using 2003 miata headlights. I did a web search for python rx7 and got a couple forum hits from 2001ish

I think it looks amazing. But I'm more partial to the blue with white stripe scheme they had on the website back then. Really unique car!!

Looks great.

The shop did different variations of the swap,

from just body work, to swapping the FB body onto the camaro chassi.

Yours looks very well kept, From a few years ago I remember a gentleman paying $ 35K for a compelted swap. ( full camaro drivetrain , ( brakes , suspension, rear end and a T56 6 speed tranny and swapable rear end ) was also red.

Look forward to checking car out at next meet

Thanks guys. I went to Rideau Carleton cruise night on Wednesday night and it was unreal the amount of attention it received. The hard part is figuring out what parts came from what car so i can replace the ones that need replacing.

I did find? Tucked away in old parts boxes, a fibrecan python business card which is pretty neat
