Project Keiko XII - Up For Sale

Hey Everyone,

First off I'd like to thank everyone who has helped this project along. If it wasn't for the support of folks on the forum this project would not be so far along.

---Edit: Here are the other chapters of the project, for easy reference---
Project Keiko - Helping a friend
Project Keiko Part II - Exterior, Seals, and Engine Bay Teardown
Project Keiko Part III - Engine Removals
Project Keiko Part IV - Tri-Engine Teardowns I
Project Keiko Part V - Tri-Engine Teardowns II
Project Keiko Part VI - Engine Build I
Project Keiko Part VII - Rotor Seals Assembly
Project Keiko Part VIII - Week Of Crazyness
Project Keiko Part IX - End of Season Update
Project Keiko Part X - Spring 2009 Update
Project Keiko Part XI - Another Engine, Ready to Start
Project Keiko Part XII - Up For Sale
---/Edit---

Unfortunately, the time has come for me to sell Project Keiko. As much as I hate leaving a project incomplete it's time to call it quits on this project for a few reasons
- Marc's car is almost done (link and thread to be posted shortly), and that was the main motivation behind building this car.
- I've got 4 cars and a 3-car driveway
- The neighbors have literally called the cops about me "owning too many cars" and are complaining about me parking my 7 on the street in front of their house too much. Sure the cop who showed up said "You aren't breaking any laws, and it's none of their business, but can you move the car so they'll stop calling us?"
- My folks want the Project Car gone
- And I don't have the time (with the new job) or money (with tryin to pay Student Loans) to finish this. My other 7 takes enough time and money as it is!

So basically, it's got to go.

So here's one last picture round-up of where the project stands.

Left To Do:
- Brake Line from Master Cyl to Rear
- Swap Starter (have an FC one ready to go in)
- Pads, Shoes, Drums, Discs
- Rust Work

That's it. Well, if you're picky enough to want an interior, speakers or stereo I suppose there's that too.

The biggest thing is the rust work. In fact, it's a little bigger than I originally thought so whoever buys the car will have to make the judgement call as to whether it's worth doing the rust work and finishing it to drive it, or whether this is just a 95% complete parts car. After all the work, I'm kind of hoping for the former, but it will probably be the latter. I figure $1k could do the rust and paint touch ups, but I'm no expert.

My for sale thread in the classifieds will link to this (this is the story and pictures to go with it) but I'm basically going to be asking $750obo for it, despite having put more than double that into it during the course of this project. Heck, the first engine alone has a $300 "Type A" atkins rebuild kit in it!

Stuff This Car Has:
- One of those mufflers from Victoria British/Black Dragon. Can't attest to how it sounds as I haven't driven it yet, but my guess would be louder than RB for sure.
- S5 FC Alt, wired properly. 80A
- Plexiglass Sunroof
- K&N (I know, barely counts but I threw it in anyway)

Extras:
- Front-Mount Oil cooler. The car has the regular "beehive" one, I never got around to installing the FMOC, it's included in the sale
- Spare 12a - the first one I built as part of this project.

I'm throwing in that engine because I now am absolutely convinced that it should run. The "new" engine did the exact same thing as the first one, and when I found out that it was turning somewhere around 100rpm with the crappy starter, it clued in that I probably didn't need the new engine anyway.

Anyone who wants to get ahold of me about it can email me at vipernicus42@hotmail.com or PM me here on the forum.

Anyhow, on to everyone's favorite part, the pictures!

Pictures of the Engine Bay

Engine Bay is in fairly good shape. It's been dissasembled and reassembled twice now so everything's gotten a good hands-on, eyes-on check, new clamps, white grease on the bolts, new gaskets and whatnot.

Interior and Bin Rust

The carpet needs a cleaning, and it's missing the door panels and everything in the rear hatch. Seats are in great shape and so is the dash but that's about it.

You can see where someone already did some (very messy) welds of new metal into the bins at some point. Everything in the bins is solid, but ugly and stained with surface rust. There IS some major crackage at the top part of the wheel well though that needs to be addressed. This is one of the two major areas of rust.

Jon, say it ain't so! You've put so much work into this project, it's a shame to have to give up on it. Best of luck with the sale, and at least you're not getting out of the rotary scene altogether...

The first pic shows the great condition of the seats as well as the FC starter I have to install to get the thing cranking fast enough to start (if ever I get the time!)

The next two are pictures of the spare 12a that comes with it, built in an earlier thread of this project. It still spins by hand and lets out three "puffs" per rotor.

The three after that are some exterior rust shots. The rear driver's side needs work around the wheel well and bottom, and right around where the driver's door closes it needs some pretty serious rust repair underneath. It's hard to get a good shot of it without putting the car up.

Here are two pictures of the plexiglass sunroof. Then two pictures showing the rear hatch and side glass, as well as a good shot of the Front Mount Oil Cooler that comes with the car.
