ON Parts / Shops near Cambridge/K-W/Guelph

I've had a look at the "List of Canadian Rotary Shops" but they all seem very far away. Seems a bit excessive to drive over an hour just to get an oil change, right?

I'm just looking for any suggestions for shops that work on RX-7s. Places that do basic things - oil changes, minor work, etc. I don't mind a longer drive if the car is getting more major work done, but it would be nice to have somewhere local I can take it as well.

Basically, if you can recommend any shops in the Cambridge/Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph areas, I'd love to hear about them. Parts suppliers in this area would be good as well.

I've always thought Mazda should have a "Rotary-Aware" certification for their dealerships signifying that at least a couple designated techs have passed some serious rotary knowledge courses.

Things like oil changes are no different on a rotary. It really comes down to how they treat the car when it's in for service - situations like shutting down a cold engine after moving it out of a bay, and things like that. We ALWAYS let the car get warm before shutting it off, and when the customer complains about wasting their gas, we tell them why we do it. lol

The biggest problem is parts availability. Mazda can't seem to get parts for my car. I had to go to a shop that mainly dealt with rotaries when I needed suspension stuff and a wiper switch. My previous mechanic wasn't able to source parts (or the oil I wanted) for it either.

As for oil changes, not many shops seem to be able to get Idemitsu oil (wanted to switch to that on the next oil change, as my car is due). I don't have so much free time during the week that I can go driving for hours, so it would just be nice to have a trustworthy shop in the area that had a decent source for RX-7 parts, or at least the Idemitsu oil.

Just use castrol, its fine. Unless you premix you shouldnt run synthetic in it.

If you're from cambridge, how come I kept seeing you in wopbridge?

Also, whos insuring your RHD?

I can get you parts for that FC at my Dealer, First the second you say its RHD most dealers go all funny and dont want to get anything for it

Second the Wiper switch a couple guys here can fix its just a matter of removing and resoldering in new relays

Idemitsu Oil, One of my shops suppliers carry the oil, But in all honesty Just run regular Oil Idemitsu isn't anything godly

If you really want Idemitsu oil, I'm placing an order with Mazdatrix within the next week, I can have it all shipped here together.

BTW, my shop is just off the expressway in Kitchener if you need some local work done.

If your talking about Point Zero, stay far far away with a Rotary. Will is great with Hondas and wiring stereos.
I'm currently helping a local FD owner fix all of Point Zeros mistakes.

I heard about that! The place I'm referring to though is Top Gear Automotive. Now, I'm only going by what I've been told and have not dealt with them, but I've heard positive things from friends who've taken their vehicle to them.

Hahaha, I know them. It's weird to see them mentioned here though. Awesome people, but not rotary specialists (they do know more than most shops though).

I'm off to the shuttle launch for a bit, but when I get back I'll get in touch with R.P.M. for sure. I've got a few things going on with my car that I'd like to get sorted (once I get back from the US).

2Fierce; My ghost is haunting Woodbridge, but I actually live in Cambridge. As for insurance, I went through Advocate. It's a bit expensive, so I'm going to be looking elsewhere for insurance next year.
