Out of Province inspection

Out of Province inspection
I am trying to find a list of all the things mechanics check off when doing an out of province inspection. I am bringing my car from BC to Alberta, and I dont really want to go get it inspected more than once. If anyone could help me out, that would be awsome. Also, are there any places in Calgary that someone can recomend?

Lights(brake, signal, reverse, licencse plate light, headlights, marker)
Horn
Spedo, odometer
Steering suspension(tie rods, ball joints, etc)
Brakes(pads, rotors, lines)
Tires
Windshield
possibly exhaust
There is probably more, but I can't think of them right now.

Basically the car needs to be in good condition with all safety features intact. It needs to be good mechanically (suspension, engine, etc, as mentionned above). It also gets a bit **** in BC anyway, my dad brought a Miata from Alberta to BC and the sunvisors had been removed, and he had to go get them before they could pass the car (they were in a box at home, the owner included all that kind of stuff with the car). It wasn't a big deal, but it can be stupid like that.

They check all wheel bearing , for any oil leacks, all tires ( The have to be mached pairs and not winter), all lights, emergancy brake and everything that is listed above. If it fails you get 7 or 14 days to do all of the repairs, I cann't remember. It's a real pay'n in the a##.I had to go through this last year when I bought my car( the kid I got it from didn't tell me it was a Sask. car)

If I remember correctly, I think Canadian Tire is the only place you can get an out of province inspection done now.
I remember my buddy having to go through alot of hassle with them when he brought over a skyline.

that is not totaly true... the shop and the Technician just have to be certified...
but if possible avoid Canadian Tire... they = suck.. i really dont like them.. stupid little stuff.. and there service advisors are really dumb sometimes (a medium length sotry. also bout a buddy bringing in a Skyline)
i would try to find a small shop if possible... (if not just forge it
(i did not just condone illegal activites)

Canadian Tire is the authorized inspection/conversion agent for importing cars from out of country. (www.riv.ca ) Any licenced vehicle inspection facility can do out of province cars originating in Canada.

My sunroof doesn't work; my rear hatch has a wiper motor on it, but the body is gx so there is no rear wiper switch; the speedometer wobbles a little at low speeds; and my wiper switch is messed up (meaning it works, but not on int., and doesn't return to the bottom when you switch it off)
How much of that would cause me to fail?

I don't think any of those would cause a fail, they all work, just not that well. It is mostly just saftey make sure your brakes, suspension, tires, and glass are good.
Don't take my word on weather or not you will fail.

If the car is coming from bc, you should have no problems. BC inspections are much more strict then alberta.
I pulled an 87 t2 out of edmonton and brought it to vancouver. Took it in for inspection in bc and all I needed was a light blub, which costed like $5. You shouldnt have any problems, its when you bring cars from the states when it gets tough.

The only thing with bumpers is that its securely fastend, all splash guards are in place (wheel well liners) and that the bumper (and car in general) isn't too low to the ground.

But there are many lowered cars that come from Japan and I see them on the road all the time

I had a honda civic I brought back from BC fail because they claimed it wouldn't fit on the lift. It was really really low, but I had jacked up the height adjusters all the way before inspection and it was reasonable, I thought.
I ended up having to replace everything with original units.
However, if it leaks dont matter on inspection. My honda leaks from everywhere and it passed.

I brought my chevette to get OOP'd in alberta that had JUST passed an ontario saftey inspection less than a month prior, the mechanic told me it required like 20 or 30 things to get inspected and was basically impossible to pass.
