Ottawa: Merrickville Car Show, July 10 2005
The Annual Merrickville Car Show is coming up fast.
Last year 5 of us went. It was a great show. Lots of nice cars, imports, domestic muscle, classics. The people are all friendly, and they appreciate all cars.
We'll be going again this year.

I'm usually there...
I'm usually there on our boat. Most cars start arriving around 8:30 a.m. Believe me I know, because they back up to our boat and wake us up!
If we make it there again this year I'll come and say hello!

Gonna go
We are leaving that weekend for a weeks holidays on our boat, but I convinced the wife to delay a day so we would be in Merrickville that day. Hope the weathers good, and meeting you guys are worth it , cause that bargain cost me a day of shopping in Westport!
We'll try and get there for saturday and sunday night. Hope the weathers good because boating is slightly more weather dependent
Here's what you're looking for...sorry no room for the RX on the boat

Good one!
305 chevy 4 barrel 230 hp. It gets about 1.5 mpg, so I really hate to think what it would get with a rotary if my -SE is any example! Work and back is -$14 - $17 for 150 km.
By the way guys, I was talking to some fiends at one of the lockstations this weekend, and the word on the street is they are looking at 1000+ cars. They will be down at Aylings marina too.
To be honest, I think that's a gross exagerration, but I mention it cause you may want to leave earlier to get a good spot. You definitely want to be in the park where there's some shade.
Might not be making it after all because when we finally got the boat in the water Friday night and used it Sat and Sun and there was a noise in the lower unit. That means pulling the boat back out and getting the marina to take the drive apart. Just removing it starts at about $400, and anybody who has ever dealt with a marina it's something like rx7 hell. They think they're doing YOU a favour, not that you are giving them business. I waited 6 wks once to get an outboard swapped.
By the sound, I'm guessing u-joint. Ticks me off because it didn't do it before they winterized it last year, so it should have been caught if there was problem. And before anybody says "why don't you look at it yourself", a lower unit is something with tolerances within about 5 thousandths, and not something you play with unless you REALLY know what you're doing!
Anyway, if we make it, we know the town really really well as well as all the lockstation people, and since you'll esentially be on Parks Canada property, that's a good thing.

Does look like it...
Appears you're right about a charge. Believe me "parking" the boat costs a lot more! Speaking of which it s fixed. Apparently a part was mis-assembled when the drive was reabuilt 1 1/2 yrs ago - so bonus - no charge! Weather permitting, we'll definitely be there.
Looks like since you'll be arriving in a group, you should contact the guy they mention to make the necessary arrangements.
Look forward to meeting some of the Ottawa crew...

Taylor and John's at 8:30am?? What time do we wanna arrive at merikville? His house would be the closes since he's the right by the 416... That's where we ended up meeting last year and i think Taylor already suggested it earlier in the thread.
