NEW SHOP IN TOWN with NEW DYNO!
A good friend of mine with his brother has opened a new shop in Pickering called
Pacione Automotive Group. Victor Pacione is the owner/operator of the shop, his brother Rob is a fellow racer. I have spent many lapping days at Shannonville and Mosport with them. I believe (an I may be wrong) they are the only shop who have a 'Mustang Dyno"(dont be fooled by the name, not for mustangs only!). This is the latest and by far the greatest of real wheel dynos on the market. It would take me this whole post to explain what it does differently from a dynojet dyno, so go to this link for a better explaination.

You can call Vic at the shop 905-831-6150 for special rates and times. To give you an idea of how sophisticated this machine is, I can break in my new engine with all the variables I need without ever leaving his shop. The I can get my 1/4 times and my 0-60 times too!!

Mustang dyno's are certainly the best/easiest to use. I could maybe argue that dynapacks are nicer - but really they're about the same and a whole lot more of a pain in the *** to set up. Dynojets are poo.
Wish it was more local to me, but the more dynos, the better IMO.

I was told to keep in mind that a MD dyno properly set up and with the proper load on the rear wheels, may produce HP ratings up to 30% less than a dyno jet!
I was told and I quote " with a dyno-jet your just spinning your wheels"

I wouldn't worry too much about what one type of dyno reads over another.
Even comparing dyno results between the same dyno at different locations could yield varying results.

mustang dynos typically read much lower than dynojet dynos.
Horsepower numbers are generally pretty worthless anyways, unless you're comparing results on the same dyno, since they all read slightly differently.
but dynojets are crap.

Funny you say that because I had the same conversation with Vic yesterday! I agree that rear wheel dyno are basically good for tuning and not an actual horsepower number, however Vic and the Mustang Dyno guys I met at the PRI show in Orlando told me that if you do the math, their horsepower is a true reading. By doing the math I mean 1/4 time divided by wheel size, vehicle weight, gear ratio etc. I think it is a great tool and great to have reliable knowledgable guys running it!

Went to visit them today. Nice shop. They are just starting out in this location. Looks like it will be a very nice shop. Lots of room and three cars in the showroom as you walk in. Not to mention its so close for me. To bad I don't have money. LOL.
