New to rx7 club need help!!!!

Hi i just met a guy at the mazda dealership this morning after getting an oil change for my 88 FC. Anyway this guy was driving a FD so naturally we started talking and he told me about rx7 club and about their runs up to ottawa to drive on the back roads and i just lost it with excitement, i had no idea things like this was going on. I just joined today and was curious about what kind of things you guys do around here or anywhere for that matter and ya just wanted to know more so please if anyone wants to help me out that'd be great thanx.

Welcome Andru. Mainly, actually, its Ottawa and Calgary guys that seem to do the most meets. The London area crew has gotten together once this year. Also, the TO group gets together frequently as well it seems. I'd certainly support more Ontario 7 meets next year though, as my car will be good to go next year. You will find a HUGE amount of information here, but be sure to read ALL the stickies in the 2nd gen forum before posting, to see if your information has already been covered there. Also, check the archives for stuff from basic fluid information, to all sorts of modifications. I hope you enjoy your stay. Try to stay out of the politics.

quick recap of some of the major rx[7]club events this past summer (in Ontario):

First RX Club Of Ontario Meet

Ottawa Meet 2005

Bruce County Meet 2005

Niagara Cruise 2005

Also not too far away and quite a good meet:
Quebec RX Club Season End Meet 2005

Throughout the year there are also a lot of little local getogethers, and sometimes track events, in various regions. Not too much in the winter, at least not much involving the cars themselves, but in the summer it gets decently active.
hope to see you out

Those groups use this forum to organize their meets.
Other areas use other web sites. Vancouver and Edmonton, for example, have their own club sites.
Edmonton is having a big auto-x tomorrow and there hasn't been a peep about it on this board.

Hey Andru, welcome to the club.

As far as ottawa back road driving. For those that don't live here or don't come to visit. It'll happen once a year, so you'll wanna keep an eye out for the "Ottawa meet" in May.

Even then there are quite a few hardcore members in the GTA so be sure to keep an eye open for any meets that happen there through-out the season.

Happy RX'ing!

Cool.

Hopefully you will be able to attend next year with an FC. So far it looks like a min of 4 people plus yourself if you attend. Should make it alot of fun having a few of us participating together. WAY TO MUCH FUN

We are also having a group buy on grandsport brakes for those of us who are attending the solo1 next year.

Anyhow for the thread starter, we also get 20% off or something like that from scarboro Mazda. I think you can talk to steve smith 416-752-4310 for parts.

Also ASPEC? They are still around?

An added bonus is that with a large group of us attending, chances are that something on anyone's car breaks, there's a higher chance of us having a spare part between all of us.

I'm a huge fan of Porterfield R4 pads, but I've heard good things about GS as well. I've had limited luck with other manufacturers other than Porterfield, but stopping a stripped FC should be a lot easier than stopping a 3600lb landbarge. :o

Oh no you can't be serious. Where ever could I begin. reverse apex seals in my A-spec car would be good. But them laughing at me when I called and told them that is even better. Dude forget everything you know about that place including how to get there.

THey can't seriously be around anymore.

I'm also really interesting in attending a solo1 event soemtime next year in my FC. Glad to see there's a few other guys that'd be going as well, especially since I'm still new and learning about my car.

My thoughts exactly. And I can't think of anything better to do The more the better. But I figure if 8 people say they will participate I'm counting on 4. LOL. Actually should be a garanteed 4 right now plus the people on this thread that said they might come.

Theory. Hope to see you there. (P.S this will be new to me too and since I will be classed so far out of reach that I'm basically just going to learn how to drive and have fun)

It is not about how many mods you have since you'll be competing with similarily equipped vehicles. The more power and mods you have the higher the bracket you'll fall into.

Yeah, I'd like to come out and at least watch/ hang out before actually entering. I've only driven my car 2 times ( it won't be on the road until april) and I still getting the basics down of striving with a manual tranny . Although not very experienced yet, I do actually want to get out to some of these events! Maybe we can even set up a small meet prior and then all show up...
