If all goes according to plan here within the next week, I will have a confirmed media pass for the ALMS weekend and thus won't be able to make it to the next one.

It was close but I'm back in again the RED ***** is boosting great again and new HP+'s on all four corners. Let the games begin. Can't wait to break her again, but sucks to fix her because you never know if it something major like a heart transplant till it's all back together. The track is making her show her age! Thanks Jim and Doug her your support.

I bet he would!

IAN please give me a call if you still have my number, or PM me yours!

I think I have the miata fixed. Catalitic converter on it was super ridiculously plugged up. It's hollow now. :P I'm going to take it for a drive in a minute. I made a rollbar for it and will rig up a 5pt harness tonight.

Another awesome event. Tons of cars showed up. A ton of mazda's! I think there were more mazda's then any other manufacture today at this event. Doug, Rick, Dan and a few others hit the track up....

Did ok. First time out when I got the timer to work I posted a 1.11.42 or something beating my personal best by 1/2second. I was pretty happy. I was a few times in the 1.11.40's and a few in the low 1.12's and it was looking very promising that I was going to do a personal best in the time attack. The last lap of the practice I was going a tad too fast into a corner trying to improve on my time and I spun in one of the faster sections of the track. The biggest spin for me yet in 20 years of the odd lapping day. Took rocks and jammed them into my enkies and tires. Could not attend the Time attack so I will be DNF for me.

So a mega cleanup (Interior and exterior), remount the tires and repair the damaged Odula lip then unto the next sigma time attack
See you guys next event!

yep another great day indeed! It was a bit of a steep learning curve for me as it was my first outing with hawk dtc-60s brake pads. I have never driven on racing brake compounds. the first few laps consisted of waaaay to early braking lol, then on the back straight the brakes got too cool by the end on of the straight and I pretty much understeered thru the hairpin...went back to the pits and blocked off my brake ducts to see if that would help any. And it did! During the first hour of the day, it was pleasantly cooler than usual. Was able to beat my previous personal best of 1.11.6 with an 1.11.0 flat!! on lap 21.
As the day got warmer I was running inconsistent low 12s and high 11s. The harder i tried to push the sloppier the tires became so i decided to back off before I overdrive the car and have an off.
Changed my dampening in the front shocks to a little stiffer (9/18 clicks) and changed tire pressures and let the 300wear street tires cool off lol.
The time attack was changed to just having 2 timed laps compared to the last event where we had the option to forego our cool down and have it count as a hot lap. To add some mystery, the sigma crew took our timer displays and put it outside our cars out of the drivers view so no one knew what our times were.
When times were displayed i ran 1.10.77!!!!! Friggin awesome day and thanks to sigma/Nex for another awesome event!!!
Also nice to meet more rotary owners and finally got to run with rick. Buddy your car reminds me so much of the previous FD, so clean. Ian sucks you werent able to do the TA. Hopefully Ill see you all at the next event. Im having increased oil blowby into my intercooler, me thinks my stock twins are on their way out. I have a mint set of twins with 24k on them, hopefully i can swap them out in time for the next event.

Oil in your intercooler just means your crankcase is shooting out oil as it goes to the primary turbo assuming you don't have a separate catch can bypassing the stock venting system.

I had a good time! Wish that the track was smoother and that I hadn't broken a strut just as I was starting to get the track figured out. And maybe that I had better tires since those ones were terrible.

It is a VERY well run show. No BS, no weenies doing tech, great BBQ, hot girls delivering bottled water to make sure everyone stays hydrated, etc. These guys seem to not have a lot of experience doing this yet but obviously know what they're doing.

Next two are August 21 And sept 18. If all goes well I'll be at the september one in my GTR. I might try and do the august one in my Miata but I'm just not sure I'll have time, august is a busy month for me.

Just a suggestion on your hawk pads, the pads you chose are for extreme heat etc like in NASCAR for short tracks etc. The Hawk 9012 Blue might be a better choice, thats what we use in our race car. They are designed to work from lower temp than the 60's here are the quotes from Hawk
Blue 9012: BLUE 9012
Sports car racing and Rally applications needing medium initial bite and effectiveness. Good general purpose pad for vehicles requiring stock brake calipers. Number one selling pad in SCCA.

DTC 60:
DTC-60
All heavy, high deceleration Sports car, Trans AM, and GT classes where less initial bite than the DTC-70 is desired.

Just a thought for next time.

Alan, thanks for the input. The pads may/are overkill but i like the on/off switch feeling it gives me. If i continue having trouble with modulation then I shall look into the Blues, but i have to say that I am very happy with them at the moment. Who knew you could pick up a lot of time with braking lol.

I ran the DTC-70's for the 2 years or so and love them >_>. I've been experimenting with DTC-60's for a little over a year and think its the correct pad for an rx7 to use on slicks. I tried the Blue's and didn't like them but thats just my opinion. I also didn't like the way my RX-7 braked with slicks until I removed the ABS, maybe try removing the ABS fuse one day. Also, what brake fluid are you using?

Brakes are the most important element on a track imo.

We use Wilwood EXP 600 plus. We bleed the brakes once or twice a season with it, no issues what so ever. We used to use Motul but it was way too expensive and would have to bleed it every race. Our car now weighs 2291 lbs it gained a few pounds with the extra safety items we added. The big issue is that at Mosport we never really have to use the brakes hard except for one corner and they have plenty of time to cool. We run no brake ducting or anything. The only real hard braking is for turn 5. Even at Shannonville we never cook brakes so to go to a harder pad will just wear the rotors and never get up to temp.

OH! Take that garbage brake fluid out of your car ASAP. I tried that once 2-3 years ago cause I couldn't find Motul at the time. It came out the following week. It was doing basically what your describing, after long straights brakes weren't there or would require double pump and after 2-3 laps (TMP) brakes were unpredictable. The problem is your fluid, not your brakes, it get flushed ASAP. I personally use Motul 600 but I recommend Motul 5.1 for most street cars. I bleed mine once a year.

01Racing, your car doesn't have power and its very light so handles well and is capable of taking corners very fast so you hardly need your brakes at all. So you can't compare it to our heavy street cars with more power.

Man, I miss my car, still haven't had a proper track day this year Soon.... soon....
