Need to see more Rotary's. Who wants to join Time Attack!
Well I registered for all of http://www.sigmatimeattack.com time attack series. I am hoping that there will be some more rotary interest. I think there is at lest two of us maybe three right now. See the website for details. Basically open lapping in the morning with a timer then time attack in the afternoon.
Any interest?
ATTENDING....
1: IAN. Running near stock 1988 Turbo II. Next year the 400rwhp+++ will be run. Gotta learn... Registered to all events.

We will be running the RX7 in the new CASC Time Attack Series. Similar rules, but at different tracks. Entry fees are good as well. Mark Clyde will be driving the car and we will see what he can do in it especially with the upgraded suspension, new tires/ brakes and finally a FI system with the bugs worked out of it! We are keeping the car race legal as I want to run it in both of the 3 hour races this year.
Personally, I like running with the CASC sanctioned events as they have a ton of medical and comprehensive coverage and they run to pretty strict rules, so if you can do well it means something, well at least to me it does.

This series "Sigma" appears to have more track time available so I will try it this year. I do like the different tracks that CASC offers and may just have to see about maybe one year trying that. I will try this year a track day at calabogie, mosport big track and at least one in shannoville. So that is 8 track days this year. Enough track time for sure.
For all of the track time I never had the same amount as clubonetwonine offered. Small groups of 20 cars on the DDT. You can stay on all day long if you wanted. Value for your money there!

I'll be going to all of the events, went to all of them last year and had an absolute blast
DDT is super easy on my brakes too, I was able to run all of last year on my stock pads and rotors without ever getting any fade, this year might be different though (car's faster, and I'd like to believe I'm getting faster too)

You mean the solosprint time attack? I did one few years ago. I got very little track time. Its seemed like a lot of cash to run a maybe an hour of track time. Not to mention you have to have three dyno pulls to register?

Different strokes for different folks and trust me when I say that there is a huuuuuge difference between lapping, lapping at the limits and racing. DDT really doesn't reflect the types of tracks that people race on. I am not saying that it isn't fun or of value, but be aware that there will be a completely new learning curve when you step up to racing. At least Mark will have some track time in competition on the biger, faster tracks when he steps up to his regional license. By the way, I agree with you with the dyno B.S.. They really nitpick the rules and with Sigma, its a lot more run what you brung which is easier for a newbie.
Just my feelings, but I like the fact that a bunch of you are getting on track. My hat is off to you and if I can help at all, let me know.

I second this one. We met at the clubonetwonine.com events and man, i spent as much time on track as I could handle. I was frickin exhausted by the end of the day, and all for not a whole lot of dough. If it's lapping you're after, try that club at the DDT.

+1 on lapping being completely different from racing. it's not even close!
I do think that lapping is a solid foundation to start racing on though - gotta start somewhere.
I might come try that in my miata if I can get my hands on a hardtop and rollbar in time. I don't want to try lapping the GTR until I have some more seat time in some slow stuff.

The DDT is a great track for the first timer. It allows you to get get a feel for your car and get some lap time experience. I might come to one of the events just to set a lap time ^_^. I wanted to last year but never got around to it hehe. Need to get a feel for my new tire setup so may as well be there. I'm also out of practice I'm sure, didn't do a lot of tracking last year.

If only every track wasn't like 3 hours + away from me I'd come out to some events. Might have to show up for at least one though when I have the Rx-4 done. Just to see what it can do....

For the rest as far as lapping goes.
I feel like the DDT is a great development track. Its alot more fun than shannonville. For me the 1989 is fun to drive on the DDT but on the mosport big track the 10th AE with the extra power is fun Its all about logging some track time to improve on the bigger tracks for me.
Also the costs on lapping days is a fraction of the cost of a race series I would think. Right now I can drive to the track and have some fun without the truck/trailer combo...
(Mosport big track on a lapping day is also twice the cost and on the 10th AE I burn more then 1l/min. and the 89 just falls flat on big straights. Still on the 89 I could be alot faster. Just gotta learn)
See you out there marco and the rest of you.....

though its more of a taking car apart thread right now, I actually haven't started "building" anything back in yet. Too cold outside and no room in the garage to work

See you there.....
I was thinking about a seat as well. Problem depends on how tall you are. On my 10th AE with the roll bar I cannot fit in it with stock seats and a helmet. Bad enough without a helmet. I can fit on the 89 because there is no roll bar but I flop around in the seat a lot in the corners..
