can I trade you with a red one?
I need to change one of the pipe attached to the intercooler which has a crack on it. I wonder how much of difference are there using rubber hosts compare to stainless steel pipes? (reliability wise for the parts itself and the engine).

Hey fellow stoon'ers. I am so glad I found his thread. As for the person that wanted exhaust work done, someone told me that competition muffler does some good work if you explain to them what you want done exactly. I have had some success from OK tire on 8th but it's quite pricey in my opinion.
So what is the consensus on engine rebuilds in Saskatoon, I have an FD and it spits a little oil.

CP1, You are the first to ask... I was sell my car up until Monday when my sister out of all people begged me to keep it for the summer because she wanted to attempt to fix it herself. I on the other hand would like to see this thing gone. Its in awful shape from sitting for 4 yrs and it has sever passenger side body damage and who knows what i messed up in the rear end after sliding the driver side into a side walk. None the less you will never find a caddilac pearl white FC with molded in rear wing. Its simply sick! Its was also an excuse for me to pay 4000$ knowing it had a blown engine. I paid the guy that much even though the car caught fire and blew its overfill rad fluid all over my face!I am beyond addicted to rotaries. I love to drift my rx8 around Saskatoon when it rains. So to recap. You have first dibs on it... I'm never gonna take anyless then 1000$ for the car and all its loose goodies(there's also a brown 87fc roller that comes with this deal, someday when i go to the farm ill take pics)... I'm going to hold this car till august unless somebody is desperate to buy it. Till then if there is any progress what so ever, I will post the new developments. The aggressive street ported core is still for sale and for the sake of quickly getting rid of it I'll take 500$ for if you pick it up.

When i was trying to solve the idle issue today i found out another problem with my car, oils leaking from the turbo...
Is it cheaper to get it rebuild (if i know where to go), or just get a new one (nothing big, just a 16g/18g is enough.)

We should definately try to make saskatoon a more rotary friendly place.
Yeah th car definatly isn't running right, now here is the kicker, I'm currently in calgary, I don't have any of my tools, or anything, but rx7 specialties is in the same city as me (whole other debate).
I could go for an expensive look over here/ possible rebuild or I could limp the thing home look things over and maybe have a block rebuilt by some company in the states.
Third, I could have the thing sit for a while and rebuild it my self slowly. Proper way including new ceramic seals! I have never pulled an engine before anyone with experience in saskatoon?

Just dropped the car off at GSS today, just couldn't keep up trying to fix the car at night. So far Gerrsion from GSS is giving me quite a positive impression, let see how this works out.

finally did the compression test, surprisingly the results were very good.. all the parts required to fix up all those leaks (almost every gasket you can name from the oil pan all the way to the rear end had to be changed), everything else were actually in great condition... well execpt the paint and the spoiler getting safc and wide band installed as well to fix up the fuel ratio.
I will prepare the car sometime next month to get painted, gonna look for some nice exterior parts now
The car should be back on the street next weekend once i get all the address and ID issue resolved so i can change my driver license.
thanks again for all the help from everyone, really appreciated.

Not sure if you're still having the rain issue but I had a similar one with my old FC. The problem was that the injector o-rings were no good and would allow rain water into the engine. It would either start to sputter or die until everything dried out. The o-ring simply slides over the end of the nozzles to seal the injector from the engine. Not sure what the proper name is but once I replaced all of those the rain issue disappeared and even the random idle surging never happened again. Hope this helps if you're still tracking down the problem.

Hi Night Hawkr if you are still having a starting issue I am in winnipeg and I have worked on rotarys for 29 years If you need help still call me fred 1 204 275 1589 during the day for the compression gauge remove your FI inj fuse in the fuze box on the drivers front strut . then remove the top 2 plugs insert the standard comp gauge with the lower valve ( like a tire valve ) removed have some one step on the throttle and turn over the eng several times while you watch the gauge fluctuate up and down watch that you are getting three consecutive readings up down, up down ,up down If you get a low reading on one of them or it stays low flatlines then goes up again you might have a carbon locked seal or a blown apex seal if the readings are less than 60psi its rebuild time any way even if it is bagged you could pull start it at 25k in second gear behind a car. As far as starting the car you should also remove and replace the fuel pump sock in the tank they tend to plug up and supply less fuel upon cold and hot starts, as well as look at the the fuel pressure damper on the fuel rail it is a small white plastic cap on the front of the loer fuel rail be carefull and remove the cap and see if the screw came out ,it tends to increase the fuel pressure when it does any way give me a call iIcan Help.....Fred

Just found this old thread. Is there anyone in Saskatoon that works on these Rotaries? Is Gerrison from GSS still around somewhere. Looks like CP1 hasn't posted for years so I am assuming not around. My son bought a car that sat for years. Got it running but just want someone to give it some adjustments . Thanks
