My new JDM RX7

Hey guys, just thought drop in and say hi
Im new here and just found this site, looks like there is lots of good info to be found.

My new car is a 92 JDM FD and is in the middle of the pacific at the moment.....Im dying to take it for a rip already. my buddy in Japan hooked me up with this rare yellow one.... 49K on it , Tien coils, Kakimoto exh, Blitz int, and wed sports light weight 17's.

Ever since I sold my N/A 90 I new I had to get another one... rotory motors are way to much fun to drive

Ill post more pics when i pick it up..... cheers

I was wondering how a RHD car is driven on 2 lane hiways here in North America?
Do you have a passenger you can trust as an observer when you pull out to take a peek around those 2 semis doing 120 km in front of you? Just asked because when I lived in England I would take my Mini-Cooper S to France to go to the 24 Hour Lemans each year and used to scare myself every 50 miles. Just curious, as it seems a boatload of FDs are on the way, and I mean a boatload!

thanks guys , driving RHD on LHD roads are not too bad when you get used to it (I drive a r32 and a MR2 aswell) so Im very used to RHD now, the big issue is passing on single lane roads where , A/ you dont pass B/ look through the windows of car in front of you (if possible) C/ get a "back up cam" and mount it in the front left bumper or
D.... drive by faith LOL

lookin forward to some meets in the summer

cheers...

Sweet little beast. It's just nuts how the steering shaft packages next to the turbos on them RHD FDs.

rd turbo, your right it is strange and will be fun to work around that area

So what are some must do mods on these cars?

- Ive heard that it is a wise idea to replace the vacum hoses around the intake manifold
- going to get a larger HKS IC
- new fuel pump (255?)
- new injectors... w/FPR and rail
- HKS EVC

from what I gather the fuel delivery and cooling is a little weak on these cars ... how do you guys keep them cool ? aluminium rad's, is there better water pumps out there?

well I live 5 min away from Staffs auto ..... he will be seeing a lot of me lol

Hey congrats.

Not my taste [mostly the wing], but I can certainly appreciate it. Should be a lot of fun!

As for rhd on the highway, when I pass if I can't use the windows in the car I'm passing, then I back off enough to see. Then the turbo does the rest :p

what a sweet FD. I found parallel parking a bit trickier with RHD. Just takes practise...

10k wow, is that 10k landed?

I import them myself, I do use a custom's broaker to deal with all the paper work and to make sure they get through ok, but Im not an auto dealer or any thing like that I just import cars for my friends so we can tweak and race them (not on the streets).
I have a good connection in Japan that ownes a car lot, who gets cars privatly and from the auctions aswell. I got into importing them about 2 years ago when the skyline became availible, at the time I was working at a subaru tuning shop, that built rally and race cars. so I had to get somthing to lay the smack down on subies.... of course once my brother and my buddy at the shop saw it ....... well I had a long list of cars to bring in for them.

So if any one needs any advice on importing, I would be more than happy to help you out

cheers.....M-SPEC

Who are you using as your customs broker? I might be going through Courtney agencys. They charge $250+GST to get the car through. But I might also be looking for a customs agent that has some storage space just incase if I can't fly down right away to get the car. Or a customs agent who will arrange shipping to Calgary for me if I end up not driving the car home.
