Thanks for the comments. Garage is hard to keep clean. I insulated and drywalled and painted the past two years. Had a few comments from people on the street saying my garage is too nice. lol. I just wish it was bigger. Still not finished doing trim and small things in the garage like figure out were to put the welder, arrange the tools etc but now the attention is on the FC. The more I work on the car the more I figure I will not have it out this year. The cleaning of the subframe took most of the afternoon. Dropping it was not fun. Bolts had to be heated. Thank god the car was in awesome shape so the bolts were not rusted. just putting back the headlights and headlight motor took a whole afternoon. The wind shield wiper took me an hour. LOL All the bolts and holes are getting a tap and die and anti seize. Slow going. What you see there is three whole days of work. I took two days off work to try and work on the car. Having a wife and kid and I have no time to touch it on a working day. Now it will sit like this for an easy three weekends before I have time to touch it again. Thats a month! But oh is it so clean now. Makes the parts that are dirty old look blah lol.

After this is hopefully a 3rd gen project. Maybe. Special 3rd gen project Been on my mind for years...

Lookin' good. If I was nearby I'd volunteer to give you a hand. Work really goes a lot faster with a buddy and some good music. When we had to do the reassembly of Marc's FB last year, it took a lot of long hours but it was worth it. It wasn't even my car and I sacrificed quite a number of good hours of sleep on it, just because once things get rolling you don't want to stop!

You're not done this one and already you're thinking of a 3rd gen follow-up project? I guess it shouldn't be surprising. If I ever get my FB "finished" I'll probably get a 3rd gen myself. I've always wanted one, and I've already spent more on the FB than it would have cost to buy one!

Well another 5 hours of work on the car no real progress. Subframe is out and waiting for Por15 to paint.

Now its been like 15 or less years that I had it stock so there is alot of stuff I have no idea where it goes and also alot of the wiring harness clips are missing during painting. If anyone can figure out where these parts go please let me know. LOL. The battery harness near the steering column when I took it apart to retape I was an idiot and never paid attention to how it was connected. If anyone has pictures please post. LOL.

So anyone can identify where and what to do with these brackets and location of these sensors?

I'll help you out next weekend and I'll bring my car for reference purposes. LOL! Those brackets in the last picture are for the air box mounts and for the map sensor and AAS wiring connector. That other crap I have no idea what it is or where it goes... I'd have to go out and look at my car.

there is a s4 resistor pack and I believe a s5 fuel resistor and relay thingie.
If you don't need those brackets then they are not important!

Correct. The injector resistor gets mounted on the front side of the passenger side wheel well and the fuel pump resistor and relay both get mounted to another bracket that goes right behind the passenger head light(stiyx says it S5 though so maybe you dont need it????)

O. Thats why the fuel pump resistor and relay doesn't fit anywhere. I thought they just bolted somewhere as is. I need the injector resistor pack. Mazdatrix sent me a harness that didn't fit the original plugs so I bought the proper plugs for the harness and the injector resistor pack so that I didn't have to change anything. Mazda trix says that my ecu serial number dictates that is the harness but I think in 1988 they had a weird swap of low and high injector main harness.

Ya in 88 is when they switched from low to high impedence injectors. My car doesn't have the resistor pack or any of that stuff. Might have to sell you my old ECU too!

LOL. Buying to much from your as is. The ECU doesn't care less if you are running high or low. Thats why the have the built in resistor pack. It sucks because my brand new harness last one available as far as I know is not drop in.

Ian, let me know what ECU you need. I have about a dozen in my garage and a bunch of S4 and S5 injectors. I can get them to you either at Shannonville or sooner if I head out your way. If I have it, I will donate it to get you back on track again.

Looks awesome Ian, looking forward to seeing it at a meet sometime in the (relatively) near future! Love 10th AEs!

Are you happy with ClassicAuto Body? I need some (minor) work done on my FD and I'm looking for a relatively local place. You know what they say - the best marketing is word of mouth.

Classicauto body did an amazing job. The paint is absolutely amazing. The amount of time and effort on the car must have been crazy. It's slow going me putting it together so I hope to have it out end of June. Maybe not even this summer. Hard with a son. No time. After this I have another project lined up that I would like to do too.

My friend Marc had his FB done there, and my FB is there right now. Sam (dj55b)'s FB was done there too and I think Silverrotor's FD got paint there as well. They do great work. Unfortunately though I think Joe has had to dial back on the projects for the time being because insurance work from their FixAuto contract has been keeping them too busy to do side work. It still doesn't hurt to check with them, they do great work if you're willing to wait for it. I'm hoping to have mine back this season, but then again I've said that for the last two years so we'll see what happens. It's progressing, however slowly.

I remember just staring at the cleanness and beauty of a new Anniversary Edition when they were new. I hope you are going to keep all the badges and bring her back to looking like original except maybe rims and suspension. It will always turn heads, especially with that white.

Well more work. Had a few set backs. Some bolts had to be drilled and tapped out Had to remove alot of the plastics to reinstall the A/C FAN and I have a stripped out fitting on the A/C core and a stripped bolt on my tie rod end. Of course these are odd sizes and I do not have the proper size tap and die. Buying them separately costs more then a complete kit at Canadian tire but of course these sizes do not come in an kits..

So I reinstalled the suspension A-ARMS, subframe. Had to clean and paint under the frame as it had some spots of rust. Very slow going.

Installed the transmission and drive shaft.
Put my good rims on.
Gave up on cleaning the interior after 4 or 5 hours...
Now its install a motor if I had one

Only a few pics below..

Set backs? All my RX7 projects seem like two steps forward and one step back. Typically, my best intentions would be to spend a little spare time and clean some parts up. I try to take something apart and break it in the process. Then I have to order a new part, which means waiting for the store to open. Then they have to order it in. The end result is a new part that looks great. But I spent more time and money than I anticipated. And I kick myself for not leaving well enough alone.

Ian, I could never tackle a project as extensive as yours. I'd end up totally rebuilding an old car with new parts. I know yours will be showroom perfect. Keep going.
