Mosport Sunday

I was up at the DDT on Sunday, my good friends son was racing his gokart, kid was simply amazing! Racing with no budget and used parts compared to $20,000+ state of the art equipment, he finished 2nd in his class! He is 11 years old! If he had comparable equipment he would have kicked there asses!
I went to the big track for some of the Touring and GT races. When i was on the backstraight a girl had a radar gun and we were getting some top speeds! The fastest touring car in a straight line was a 3rd gen turbo. It ran 136mph when I was there and the girl told me it had run 144 earlier. No one else was close! Some Porsche ran about 125 but the average was around 110-115mph. When the GT race was on the GT1 Camaro did 156 mph and Can-safs car was really fast too! The fastest I saw him run was about 135mph, but he usually had traffic to contend with, and he ran a 1:32!!!! WOW thats really fast! Only about 25 Touring cars, but something like 51 GT cars!

I didn't know you were heading up--it would have been good to check out some Touring/GT races. I really should be on the ball for these kinda things.

Yep was a pretty good weekend.

about 60 cars in gt class

The last race of the day we got a 1:31.2 on lap 4 with (3rd gear problems all weekend). Came into the pits lap 6 with ignition problems.

We were right behind the 184 Porsche In 7th place before coming into the pits

With proper gear ratio we should be under 1:30

Haha yep that 3rd gen flies down the straight. They are from the Ottawa area (almonte). Me and Evilrotor helped them out with the electronics in the car, as well as the tuning. It is running a GT35R turbo. I'll update more later.

You missed a shower/drink of champagne too The car finished 3rd in class(behind the mentioned porsche and a white bmw) The weather was flaky all weekend, but thankfully the rain held off for the touring race. We were running full tread depth in case of rain.

It was nice to see can-saf's car up close, it's a very nice machine. It's also great to see a shop involved in racing to develop their expertise.

Our FD couldn't go that fast without help from Evilrotor, and especially Nik. Nik is working on a telemetry unit so he can control the fuel map from the pits! We ran on rain tires on Sunday so we were nopt as quick as we could have been-my bad decision, but the only way not to make a bad decision is never to make a decision at all. Ted finished third in GT Class, but apparently has been bumped up to second, due to indiscretions on the part of the BMW driver. We'll be back at Mosport in 3 weeks, for a 3-hour enduro, and would love to see any RX-7 fans. I'm happy to hear that it's only life stopping Evilrotor from showing up-we thought he was still sulking about Germay being knocked out of the World Cup.

You guys were definately the fastest car up the back straight in the touring race. The girl running the radar said she got your at 144mph on one lap. When i was there the fastest we got you at was 136! That was at least 10 mph faster than anyone else in touring when i was there! HUGE SPEED! Just an example, a good friend of mine is Blaise Chida, he built a Trans-Am car. With a 720 HP engine he ran a 1:20.7 and went the fastest ever up the back straight. His shift light was set to flciker at 170mph in 4th gear. He hit it once going up the back straight. You speed is amazing for a tub car!
