And I haven't even started on the 599 Fiorano. Looks like a Panoz Esperante. Forget Pinninfarina (yes, maybe the spelling here is wrong), it looks like they got the devil himself to design those snazzy pentagram wheels. Brutal piece of design. Magnum PI wouldn't be caught dead in that.
Damn you NEO, I hope it's raining inside that garage your FD is stored in right now!

Lates,
Lates,
Judging fron Mr. Eccentric's response, I'm not the only one who thinks you're the ignorant one here in your narrow minded view of Ferrari

It's all fun and games guys... the new season is just around the corner so we're all getting antsy..
Mark,
You're absolutely correct buddy. Noticed how you said "save the F430 and the bastardized F1 Enzo" Those are the only cars I would want from the Prancing Horse. Never liked the other cars (612, and now the 599).
I had no idea what they were thinking designing those wheels... Don't even get me started on the rear lights!
I hope their designs will get better... they had some really great concept models they revealed to the public lately... but they end up picking some of the strangest/ugliest designs to build on.
John,
You're not getting upset, are you???
Don't worry buddy... different strokes for different folks...
The designs and power output for modern supercars are reaching crazy levels lately.
The only big problem I have with the majority of the cars nowadays is the amount of electronics incorporated in them.
Take the GT3 for example. This is Porsche's "Real drivers car" and then they go and add traction control?!?! The GT3 is suppose to honor the characteristics of Dr. Porsche's original design. Including all it's faults. Having the engine hang out the rear is still a bad idea. And yet Porsche persists and manage to do a great job of it. Adding the electronics takes a bit of driver involvment away... which is a shame really...
In truth, even if I had this type of money to blow, I couldn't justify buying a car of this magnitude. Don't get me wrong... each supercar is a work of art in it's own right. But after seeing the costs of maintenance, ownership, not to mention insurance, I couldn't go through with this type of purchase.
I would gladly stick with my FD then cough up the money to own a Zonda F or Ferrari F50.

As for traction control, one must remember that all these cars, even the Ferraris, are streetable production cars. Since manufacturers are targeting more than experienced race car drivers as a clientele, it makes a lot of sense to incorporate traction control into any street car. One must also remember that not all electronics inhibit the performance envelope; some in fact can extend it.

Neo doesn't need traction control, because he never drives hard enough to lose traction...
I partially agree with Chris on the electronics, though. The previous version of the GT3 didn't have all the gizmos. It was more pure. But, since it seems that they can be are FULLY disabled, it's a non issue.
Plus, all the old, balding, middle-aged rich guys might want some TC in the rain.

I seen a Ferrari out today. He was having some troubles in the slush. The AWD Porsche offered to give him a push. Seriously.
Im more Partial to Lambo's though. That new Gallardo gives me a hard-on everytime I look at it. Its just so nice. And it sounds plain beautiful. Thankfully, I live only a block from the dealership.

Nice video. That mitsu has alot of jam. But thats always been the problem with them. Turbo Lag.
I never really liked the Murcielago. Its bland exterior and very ugly 'borrowed from the Diablo' Interior. And only 575HP? Weighs a ton too.
The new Gallardo puts out 550HP, weighs less, looks MUCH nicer and has an absolutely SICK interior. It also comes in a roadster now, which looks even more outstanding. The V-10 Power plant (A first for lambo's) puts out an incredable powerband to 9000RPM. And its still AWD. Im sure toe to toe the Murc would still have his way, but you just can't beat the looks of the lambo. I'd own that over any other supercar, just for the style alone.
If it were performance I was after, 911 all the way. Or the only Ferrari I like, the 355 GTS with a stick shift. **** that F1 bullshit. Might as well have an automatic.

Alak,
You've got some crazy taste... but I like how you think (regarding the F1 paddle systems)
First, that Murceilago you see at the top (awful colour!) is the new LP630 (or something like that) which of course means the hp rating has been upped to 635 (or was it 645?). Regardless, it's really up there! Trying to compete with the other heavy hitters (such as the Carrera GT or the SLR, Enzo is out of production technically)
The Gallardo isn't really considered a Lambo (in the truest sense). The Gallardo is a glorified Audi... it works, but it exists mainly to satisfy a "poor" Lambo wannabe owner...
Dont' get me wrong, it's a nice design... but who ever heard of a Lambo without scissor doors?!?! That's a trademark to Lamborghini!!!
You'd still go for the 911 for performance??? Haven't you seen the first pic of the Zonda F!!! That sucker weighs less than the 911 and has twice the power!!!

The 911 was just simply the best car I ever drove. It was the only car I ever felt 100% in control of under extreme driving conditions. The 2000 AWD 911 Turbo was crazy to drive, and you could feel the weight. But when you get into a Carrera S, its like everything else melts away. The car is just simply so balanced in my mind. Everything works in unison. I enjoy it emensly, much like my RX-7. I can't wait to sample the new GT3 should the chance arise.
As for the Lambo. Your right. Its kinda bogus without scissor doors. But they make up for it in everything else, except maybe performance. It lacks a little comapred to the other 500+ supercars out there. But as my girlfriend blankly said one day, Its a ******* Lamborghini. Im a huge fan of the roadsters. The new Murcielago Roadster is a nice peice of work. But the Gallardo Roadster is quite a cherry in itself. I love convertables.
As for the Zonda, Im not too too familiar with them. I recognize it from Forza Motorsport (XBOX) but I never really used it. But its balance that works for me in performance. For example, I drove a Viper SRT-10 and found that it simply just didnt work for me. I seen the direction I was coming from more than the Direction I was going in. Not that Im slamming it. Great Car, I just dont care for it. When I got into the 911, I spun out once in the Turbo. The Carrera S was amazing. Its like with every new series, (997 now?) They near prefection a little more. Everytime they overdo it, they tone it back a little the next time.

No I've accually driven those Porsches on a track. Accually, mostly on the street, dirt or other surface.
The Lambo, I've only really got to sit in it. Its not like theres alot of them around here. And when it came out, one drove by my house every other day or so.
However, most other supercars are based on me browsing it in say, Project Gotham 3 and saying, what the hell is that? Then moving on to something Im familiar with. For your information, there is no Porsche's in PGR3, only RUF's. Which are rediculous. I dont even know if theres a Zonda.
And I guess I read alot too. Seeing as I have no life and all.
And when I was down in the southern USA, MAN, there are lotus's EVERYWHERE. I had Elise's coming out of my ***. Too bad Im too small for the damn thing.
