sooo...how about them oil filters? ![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
what are people using these days. i've been using NAPA Gold filters since i can't get the black Mazda OEM ones.
and more importantly, what type of drain plug washer is everyone using.

Well everyone, with our new P.Port engine that has 125lbs of oil pressure at start up when idling we use.......................a bone stock Mazda filter and a stock drain plug with a stock gasket! Works fine with no problems!

well i finally got a Racing Beat catalog in the mail after waiting a long while, and it happens to say this about oil filters:
"We recommend the use of the stock Mazda oil filters for all applications other than serious race cars. The only undesirable feature of the factory oil filter is the internal pressure bypass. If the engine is cold and the RPM is high, the pressure differential might exceed 14psi., causing the filter to bypass some contaminants that the bearings likely can't handle. To avoid this, always warm up the engine gradually and fully before running at high RPM."
Now i'm not quite sure if this applies to both the "black" and "blue" OEM filters.
Me personally would probably still use the OEM filters if they were readily available, but it's just much easier to get some other good-quality oil filter instead.

oh, also looking at the RB catalog, there are a bunch of pictures containing the OEM "black" filters. one shot shows that they appear to be manufactured by "TOKYO ROKI CO. LTD.". there's also a bunch of Japanese labeling.
i still don't think anyone has cut open one of those filters and compared it to the current OEM Mazda filters to see the difference, if any.

GGLLAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRGGGHHH!!!!!!
DIE THREAD DIE.
Oh, the humanity of it all.
I will ignore all further discussion on oil filters and smack the next poster in the face with a dead cod when I next see them.
Incredibly frustrated by the world,
Eric

If you must have black oil filters with japanese writing on them, Dan Atkins will ship them to you.
If you want more capacity, the 1984 B2000 filter is the same thread and gasket, with 2x the height.

Jamie, you are next on my dead fish face slap list. You are an enabler.
Joe RPM is saved as he is ignoring the whole oil filter debate by not running one. Bodyshop Joe, just checked the freezer and found some orange roughy in a light lemon dill sauce. Doesn't have the same effect as a dead cod.
I might have to buy a trawler load soon if this THREAD DOESN'T DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting crazy here in my basement. I might have to cover the windows in tinfoil soon to protect my brain from the oil filter loooooonacy brain waves attack.
Eri....oh never mind.

Two weeks ago, I was at the Port Colbourne Canadian Tire, and they had Motomaster "Formula 1" filters, 3593A, on clearance for $2.
I bought all 8.
I bought all 8.

Interesting words that rhyme with Fram: ![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Scam: What Allied Signal, Fram's parent company is guilty of for dumping this blight on a largely un-suspecting public.
Spam: Commercials that claim Fram filters are the best. ("Pay-me-now-or-pay-me-later." Gimme a ******* break...)
Damn: What Fram filter users say when they realize that it was Fram filter-glue-clogged oil passages that murdered their engines. (Not to be confused with "**** me gently!" which they exclaim when their engine initially craters).
Scram. What I tell dealers trying to sell me a car when they open the hood to reveal a Fram oil filter.
Jamb: What you'll be in when your Fram oil filter destroys your engine at 3am. In the middle of nowhere. During a blizzard. When your cell phone batteries have died.
(Gets ready to duck for swinging cod aimed at head).
