Manitoba Rotary Enthusiast Club Announcement!
After a lengthy meeting between a few very dedicated rotary enthusiasts, a few things about the upcoming season and how the club will operate have been decided. The most important four are listed below:
1. There will be a membership fee. One of the main reasons is for accountability. If a person has paid for membership, they are more likely to take it seriously and look at it as an investment- one where you want to get as much out of it as you can. Membership dues will be non-refundable. Dues also enable us to be part of the Manitoba Association of Auto Clubs, which provides some legitimacy, some advertising, and other connections.
Currently, the cost has not been set, though initial ideas put it around the $30 range (annually). There will be other membership package options, such as family memberships, and apparel or decal packages. Dues will go towards events and other club expenses. Financial records will be available for review by members upon request.
2. Non-rotary vehicles: Piston powered 7’s are not allowed. If a person desires to be a member of the club, but does not own a rotary powered vehicle (other than an Rx model), that’s fine. For club events, if members do not have a rotary powered vehicle, they are still encouraged to come out. We will either try and place them into another members car, or they are invited to follow in a non rotary powered car. BUT, if you are in a non-rotary powered vehicle, interference with the rotary "convoy" is strictly prohibited: no attempts at a ricer fly-by in moms caravan. As well, when parking at an event, rotaries parked in one area, non-rotaries separate.
3. Membership Obligations: First and foremost, members are to give the club a good name. One of the major goals of the club, is to be a respected organization that will have a long, proud tradition in Winnipeg's car community. This means that certain behavior will not be tolerated, and if need be, a membership can be revoked. The club will in no way advocate illegal activities, including street racing, or immature driving practices.
It is also preferred that members will attend an event at least once a month. We know that people work, and sometimes it’s impossible to come out every week- but please, at least once a month. We are planning to have loosely organized events each weekend, with more formal events once a month. Obviously there are circumstances that may be an exception to the mandatory once a month attendance, but it is a priority for the club to have regular attendance by its members. Its your money why not put it to use?
4. Kick off Event!!! – Car Rally / BBQ
For our first event of the year we have something great planned. On Saturday June 4th, at a pre determined location, we will all meet at around 11 am for a car rally. Not the race type, but the scavenger hunt type.
Each team will be given a list of objects to collect worth various points. After a certain amount of time, everyone meets back up and hands in their collections. After everyone has returned and dropped off their goodies, we will head out to Bird’s Hill Park as a group, giving us an opportunity for a little highway fun before dinner. Once at Bird’s Hill, we will have a BBQ and party. Winners of the rally will be announced there, as well as a more in depth information as to what this club represents and what is all involved with being a member.
After presentations and supper, partying will continue and for those of us who wish, camp sites will be available to stay overnight. To that effect, during the rally, storage for peoples camping supplies will be provided so that you don’t have to drive around with it during the rally. A small up front fee (between $10 & $15) for the BBQ and rally will be incurred, this is to cover rally costs and food and picnic area at Birds Hill. Fees for staying overnight are not included.
Please rsvp to either myself via pm or by email to WPGRX7CLUB@hotmail.com.
Forward any questions comments or suggestions to the same places as well.

New Project on the Way...

Well I am willing to pay, I work in MB from usually the second weekend in June to the third weekend in August and would be willing to attend as many events as my work will allow me to. As I normally live in SK during the year, but we all know the best time to drive the seven is in Winter. I however will not be able to attend this BBQ
would there be provisions for those of us (maybe it is just me) with the smiliar situation?

I like the idea but lose the club fee - that will acheive nothing other than turning people off (IMO). Get the group out a few times, gauge interest, and then propose a fee - there are a lot of clubs in the city that gradually evolved into very good clubs - but they didn't get started by enforcing a cover charge before anyone even met.
There was a pretty good crowd about 3 years ago - that crowd got together every Sunday (pending weather) and you didn't have to pull teeth to get people out. Many from that group drifted off and eventually people lost interest
- it might be a good time to get it going again.
