Alak,

What happened to him, the guy that imported the '91 as a track car?

I was reading an importer's website and they said that transport canada even prohibits vehicles that are "track use only", unless they were only manufactured fro the purpose of racing, ie. Forumula 1 cars.

What this just the importer spouting crap?

Would it be possible to bring over, say a 2002 rx-7, and donate everything from it to a 93 chassis and part out the remainder.-- there are always a bunch of rolling chassis available on the US FD buy and sell?

When you import a vehicle from japan, will insurance companies cover it and if they do will the prices be higher because it's an imported model???

As far as I know, you can import for the purpose of show cars or race cars. Theres different paper work. You have to keep track of everything. The only way you could part it out, is to buy the front clip, or if its written off. Or maybe thats bull. Im not exactly sure, but he still operates the car out east for racing.

As far as Im concerned, if customs clears it, its fair game.

Insurance will be the same as its North American Counterpart.

Cars like Skylines, they asses the next closest car availiable and compare. Im sure by now they have established a pre-determined rate.

Insurance does nto go up just cause it's right hand drive, one guy i know has a 1990 300ZX and jus tlast week i helped pick up a 1990 Sklyine GTR from vancover, and i tell ya, when i am able to get a FD i am going too, i'm really suprizzed your freind got it in, i know it can be done (sat in a 1995 Celica importred two years ago, so it was 7 years early) but if you get caught car crushed and i don't think i could ever watch that so i'm just gonna wait till i can, alothough i might try to sneak a newer FD 1999-2002 in as an older one (just a matter of paper work) but that would be it, cause in one year 1992 FD's will be legal and i have a private broker that can get me one, so thats what i'm going for.

Just Praying for the best preparying for the worst (having $5000 in hand incase i need to do my first Rebuild:P) and i wanna get a FC from my broker too.

I talked to a fellow today who said storage in japan until legality is aboue 15,000 yen (150$ us) a month, but he wouldn't recommend it for any length of time. He also said that importing a parts car, is unofficially possible, but officially not. He said basically "don't try it, unless you can afford to possibly lose the car, or pay to have it totally dismantled in japan" I think you kind of have to get lucky at customs.
