Insuring an '87 in ontario.
I juts got off the phone wiht my insurance company (belaire) and they told me that they won't insure a vehicle that is 20 years old... Who do you guys with 20+ year old cars get insurance with? Also they said that they won't insure a car that has an advertisement graphic on the side.
If anyone has any contacts with a good agent I would be more than happy to give them my business.

I'm using Pilot.
And FWIW, I just did an 86 Lebaron insurance claim (yes I know, I'm surprised it wasn't written off either....but it was low mileage and a small claim) for Bel Air. So phone them and tell them that they are giving you a complete and utter line of bullshit on the 20 y/o thing.
Next, if you're getting price quotes on the phone and they feel you out for htings like stickers, roll cages, primary purpose of the vehicle. Be smart. Not saying you need to lie through your teeth because it'll come back to haunt you if there's a problem, but if you want a quote and they ask if it has stickers SAY NO. Reason being is because "legally" a car/truck with a sticker (advertisement!!) on it should be classed as business vehicle. Which bascially means different coverage that costs more.
Phone around- Statefarm, co-op, Pilot, Economical, ING are some big ones you won't have trouble with.

Jeepers, go through a broker and let him shop around for you. Like that if there is such a thing as a 20 year old clause, he'll have to work around it or he doesn't get paid....
My '85 is insured, seasonally, along with the truck and house and trailer without any questions, limitations, or sticker clause.

I had this exact situation with Bel-Air last year when I went to insure my '84 RX-7. I was an exisiting client of theirs, and have been for the past 4 years. They are the only insurance company I've ever had personally. They won't insure a 20+ year old car if you're adding it to a policy, but if you own a 19 year old car and it turns 20 years old, they'll continue coverage on it. It's total BS, especially since I was willing to provide them with pictures and any documentation they wanted, just to show them that my 20+ year old car wasn't a rotting heap like most cars that age on the road. If they weren't giving me such a good rate on my daily driver, I would have switched companies right away. Anyway, I found a company called Hub International who gladly insured my RX7. So now I have two policies... kinda stupid, but oh well. They are in Brampton, look them up. They're giving me a very decent rate on my RX-7 GSL-SE. $140 a month, and I'm 22 with a clean driving record.
