Angry Im lossin My F#@##%%in mind HELP ME TEC GURU"S>>>

i got a jap fd ,, at first the pop up lights where working great, then after a year just last month, they start ack-ting wired....when u pop them up they go up, but when u put the position to off it took 5 sec before it retracted,,,, then after one week 1min before they retracted,,,, know it stuck at up position,,i roll them down but when i pop them up they go but not down,, i changed relay, switch, checked motor for retract their perfect..... need help...... my uncle says the power not going to the off position to motors,, he said he will build a open close relay to by pass it,, if anyone had or know it be wicked ... to help......

In FC's these kinds of shenanigans are often caused by the wiring harness from the light switch. It was about 18" long and would run between the switch and the main loom – they would fail a LOT… as would the switches. I don’t know if this was a problem on FD’s as well, but if the switch is ok, then it’s worth a look.

I’m sure the FD guys will have some insight. Have you searched in the 3rd gen section?

FCs and FDs often have weird issues caused by batteries that are on their way out because of an internal short. I've seen this on numerous FCs and FDs where the headlights would even pop up and down on their own. Often the CPU goes wild and the horn goes off on its own too. You might want to try a new battery to see if some of the gremlins disappear. If that solves your issues, have an alternator shop check the alternator too, just to make sure it wasn't the cause of your battery going south.
