How often do you have to jump into the right lane to pass someone in the middle just so you aren't cutting off the guy passing you in the left. How are these issues not ticketable? At the company I drive for there is a policy of driving 100KM/h or the speed limit, whichever is lower. In Ontario, and most of the western provinces it's not such a problem, as there isn't much traffic to make my truck a hazard going that speed and when traffic is really heavy around the GTA there's no reason for me to even try going any faster. In most states however the speed limit is 65MPH (about 105) or HIGHER. On one section of I-10 in Texas it's 80MPH. People pass me like I'm not even moving, can you imagine the carnage after someone slams into me at that speed. All because slower is safer. The problem is it's only safer if everyone is going that slow. Otherwise your just a rolling barricade, waiting for someone to misjudge and hit you. Last I checked that was considered impeding the flow of traffic. One of our drivers actually got kicked out of Georgia for going too slow. I'm hope that happens to me too, so I can walk in to the safety office with a big smile, hand them the ticket and tell them I'm not paying it. It's all just so..... stupid.

If you're doing 100km/h, you're more of a hazard than those doing 20 over the limit. people slow down and fly into other lanes to get out from behind you. Driving is all about being a team player and not standing out. Going too slow should be just as much of an offense as going too fast in my opinion.
I drive about 100 in the right lane in the Insight every time I travel on the 401, and don't have this issue. If people choose to slow down and fly into other lanes because I am travelling at the speed limit, that is their mistake. Changing lanes is to be done only when it is safe to do so, and anyone not paying attention to notice the slowness in the right lane enough to cause them to make a sudden lane change doesn't belong on the the road.

Driving too slowly is a crime. I don't recall what the minimum speed is on the 401 but it is likely tied to traffic. However driving at the speed limit or slightly above is not an issue.

Ninja edit: Maybe we should change how drivers education gets handled?

Problem is, when someone is driving slower than someone else.. They (the faster moving car) get frustrated, and forget about checking blind spots all together.. I have almost been hit by driver error this way. Not because I was chilling in their blind spots. But because I was moving slightly faster and was beginning to pass them. THEN they decide to jump out. If everyone knew to check their blind spots and not rely on tiny side mirrors so much, a lot of this wouldn't happen. ****, on my civic, I don't even have a passenger side mirror. It came like that from the factory. I'm ALWAYS checking my blind spots.

And driving the speed limit or slightly above isn't an issue, until the flow of traffic increases the speed.. Then the slow people stand out, and idiots become more evident. Weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off with NO signal or blind spot check, etc..

But that is not the fault of the driver who is obeying the speed limit, it is the fault of the other idiots on the road.

The 401 is comfortable at 100 (or 105) in the right hand lane anyway, at least until Toronto where it slows down to 80-90.

Operating with the flow of traffic is important, and drivers who are sticking close to the speed limit operate in the right hand lane.
