Villeneuve Completes Successful Canadian Touring Car Test
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
August 3, 2009
The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented By Toyo Tires confirmed its status as Canada’s Premiere Touring Car Championship with a recent successful test by Jacques Villeneuve.
“It was wonderful to meet Jacques at one of our events earlier in the season,” stated John Bondar, President of the Championship, “and we were honoured when he returned to present trophies during our official podium ceremony.”
The morning of the test was spent changing springs and adjusting shocks to optimize balance. Jacques spent a short time getting comfortable with the characteristics of the car and then got up to speed very quickly. After about ten laps, he was able to establish a top five laptime.
“We are working on putting together a program for Jacques to compete in at least one Championship event before the end of the season,” continued John Bondar. “It will be very exciting to see Jacques competing in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented By Toyo Tires.”

C'mon Al, he is also backup for Reed Sorenson at Watkins Glen this weekend, LOL. He is on the rise again. Who knows he may get a ride in Grand Am Cup soon.
Scrappy, I don't know if this says anything good about his driving ability or mine, ROFL.

Go Hard....or Go Home

In my opinion he has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing this. If he is "retired" from pro racing and is just playing for publicity I understand. If he still wants a career nothing good will come of it. If he wins all he did was beat a bunch of amateurs which will mean nothing to a pro team. If he loses then he cant even beat a bunch of amateurs and who would want him to drive for them. A good friend of mine asked a pro driver to test his car (800+hp GT1/Trans-am car) and the pro driver refused for the reasons stated above. He told my friend that it was not worth the risk to his career.
