Help with Turbos -Hamilton-
Hi all,
I have problems with oil blowing out of the tailpipe, under acceleration. It gets better when the car is warmed up, but it clearly is not right.
I have a set of turbos in the car and another on my shelf. Those in the car replaced those on the shelf.
I was wondering if somebody can inspect and perhaps make a good set out of the two I have and install for a reasonable price. I have very little time and not the ***** to tackle this at my house by myself.
If you can guarantee you can dismantle/put back together successfully and for a decent price, please let me hear what you have to say.
Thank you all,
Giovanni

It's hard for someone on the forum to 'guarantee' being able to dismantle and reassemble a turbo from 2 used pieces, given that so much of the turbo is unseen from the outside, so maybe that's why you didn't get a response. Also one of the turbos is very clearly in bad shape since it's potentially spewing oil out the exhaust, so you have even less chance of being able to build a good one out of two poopy ones.
Best bet is to call around to the shops and see what they recommend. Some of them might have turbo re-builders to recommend to you, or to send out your cores to a place like bnrsupercars.com for a refurbished set.
Goodluck!

I understand your point. I also believe that rebuilding is an expensive option that doesn't necessarily yield good results. In any case, I'll get cracking on those links.
