Smile Help Please

I just was wondering if i could get some advice. So currently, i have a 1990 N/A. The engine is good, but to put it simple, i want something more powerful. I am wondering what engine I should look into purchasing. so tII motor was my idea.. but i know the extensive list of things required to make this swap complete**. Not sure i want to do that. Should I rebuild my N/A engine, I heard porting is a good idea to make around 200+, to be honest i dont know what is fully involved wiht this. If anyone can make some suggestions, id really appreciate. Thanks..

Go TII but use your N/A driveline with a ACT stage 3 clutch..... i have this setup and am loving it.... alls ya need is ECU , Boost sensor, AFM, and the motor and your good to go.

sorry to jump in..add to question I am thinkin basically along the same lines..so the suggestion is to use a TII engine with a ACT stage 3 clutch ..I get that ..but will the setup be the drive line as N/A..(using N/A trans) or the TII trans..and the remainder the same N/A set-up?..(driveshft down,untouched)..thanks

You have to use a N/A flywheel on the Turbo motor to make the motor bolt up to the N/A tranny correctly.

To answer the original question, I've seen some dyno graphs of ported 6 port N/A motors putting down 180 whp using a stock ECU.
Look into using a new Megasquirt for engine managment, it gets rid of the AFM and then you have full tunability. They're relitively cheap too!

To use the NA rear drive train with T2 motor you need to :

A) use NA transmision with the recommended clutch combo

B) Use T2 trasnmision and make a custom drivesahft with T2 yoke for NA rear end

C) swao T2 Rear drive train

My suggestion to anyone doing a TII swap is to not waste their time with a stock ECU. Just buy a standalone. Anyone who is willing to do a TII swap to get more power will not be happy with just 180HP/200HP a stock TII engine gets you.

I have tried a bridge ported carbed 86 fc, and have driven a few turbo'd fc's and I will have to agree with going the turbo route. I am in the process of doing a JDM turbo into my 90 GTU and the wiring is a nightmare. I am not very good with wiring or with anything mechanical for that matter, but hopefully I can get this thing running this weekend. Anyways, I am using a TII trans with custom driveshaft made from a TII input mated to the NA output flange and NA rear-end. I did this to keep costs down.

I'll let you know how things pan out.
