Help!
Alright Canadian Mazda fanatics...
Mazda Canada continues to ride the coattails of Mazda USA in saying it supports Mazda-based motorsports. This is not true. Mazda Canada refuses to support Canadian based Mazda racing teams and the US says "talk to Mazda Canada for support options" so we're getting nowhere. Please "Like" Mazda Canada's Facebook page and "Like" my comment (Jason Cuthbertson) after their latest question "How important is motorsports content to you?".
We are the only full-time professional Mazda race team in Canada and aim to compete in World Challenge, Grand Am, and the Canadian Touring Car Championship this year. Regardless if you support us or have a goal of competing yourself at some level in Canada your opinion needs to be heard! Tell Mazda Canada we all deserve some level of factory support ourselves!!!
Thanks, Jason

Non-Face-book person but I know what saying. Have you talk with Al (01 Racing), I know a couple of year back Mazda Canada was virtually no help when he was doing Mazdaspeed North and he was working for Mazda at the time.

Man, Mazda Canada doesn't care about racing at all. I wish you luck Jason, but it is a big hill to climb. Al got no support from Mazda Canada and if anything things are worse there now. The only support he got was from Mazda US. I sent tons of letters and calls in to Mazda Canada with no return messages. I didn't even get a "Kiss My A$$". We got some support thanks to Al from Scarboro Mazda, but if there was any support from Mazda Canada towards racing, given all the things Al did to raise the profile of Mazda Motorsports and his big meets and profile raising he would still be at Mazda.
I just don't think that they care. Look at their ads. I did hear that a CCTCC team out of Quebec got some support, but it was from the Mazda Quebec Dealers association. It may work better to align with a big dealer.
I am not saying to stop trying, but I think you need a ton more than a Facebook or Twitter campaign. As a suggestion, as Can Saf will be running the car in the U.S. a few times, talk to them as well. You may find more support south of the border.

Excellent comments guys. I liked and rambled my self. (Traveling for work and no sleep this week.)
I'm not expecting much from Mazda Canada. Personally, I just wish Mazdaspeed team support in the US would stop using UPS to ship to Canada and I could go back to ordering parts from them again.

I don't expect anything from our efforts either but my patience had dried up and wanted to try something new. They say they've "noted" our interests, commitment, and followers support.
Just drives me nuts when I'm in the US and overhear the Mazdaspeed Manager offering the Pombo brothers a fresh Mazda3 body-in-white for free. When I ask for a BIW 8 or something they tell me to talk to Mazda Canada as its their territory. Mazda Canada has a snap reaction to supporting motorsports in their own country, a quick, dry, and firm "No".
I think I need to set up a golf date with the President this spring to get anywhere. lol
Again, super appreciate everyone's support, keep it coming. This is in the best interest of all CDN Mazda motorsports participants. Just imagine if Mazda Canada had their own (be it small) contingency program for participants in Mobi1 GT Sprints, the Canadian Touring Car Championship, perhaps some Solo or Attack events, it would be great!

Jason, Don Romano is a SUPER nice guy!... I met him last summer when I was working at a dealership.. I'm sure if you had a 1-on-1 conversation with him about your concerns he'd be more helpful than the rest of the company. There are a couple people I know of working within the company who participate in amateur racing themselves (1 has an rx-7 even!) so I don't know why it wouldn't be higher on their priority list.

Thanks everyone for your input. It looks like a number of us will be meeting with Mazda Canada officials about options for increasing their support in CDN motorsports. I'll make sure that the grassroots level isn't ignored. Feel free to continue adding to the thread. Thanks again.

Good luck to you all hope you get somewhere with them. Even though I campaign a Mazda right now I will not look to them for any support especially after the way I was treated organizing Mazdaspeed North. After 21 years of supporting the brand etc I believe their exact words were "to concerned with racing and not selling cars" which lead to my career change to Toyota. It truly feels nice to be welcomed by Toyota and recognized for accomplishments with Scion and Toyota both. I am in talks with Scion to start a contingency program for all Canadian enthusiasts, it may not roll out this year but I know it will be forthcoming at some point.
