A hello from a fellow performance enthusiast!

yeah. its on the www.riv.ca web page. There is a " * " or something beside the car name. That means that it is allowed to be imported, but needs some minor modifications.

Just in response turbo setups, i'm guessing that converting the car to a single turbo setup requires all the same things that an SRT does when stepping up to a GT30 or GT35... standalone, upgraded fuel system, upgraded ignition, and a whackload of tuning?
Yup...with a few other things like IC / manifold / Down pipe / wastegate......you pretty much got the picture.

basically i'm best going with a stock rx7 until i can afford to drop a bunch into it to do all the mods at once though, right? Otherwise i'm assuming i'll have to dyno tune after every mod.

You can do minimal mods such as intake and exhaust on a FD with the stock ecu. But most things after that require a re-tune. Although you can get the re-chipped pettit and M2 ECU's which are fairly reasonable ($300-$400) and they allow you to run a few more aftermarket parts such as downpipes, strait pipes, IC's what whatnot. But if you do want a properly tuned car than the apexi PFC is the way to go.

I can't really complain as the car and the club have all been really kind to me. When i was living in Fernie, I had the same experience with the calgary boys.
As far as the car goes, it's solid, responds well to mods, makes a great daily driver, does okay in the snow, and still pulled a 13.6 on street tires with minimal mods last summer. That's not bad for a mostly stock front driver, in my books. It just doesn't fit the transportation needs anymore. I've got a pretty good commute from Barrie to Alliston coming up, and I just can't justify the car payment, plus insurance, plus cost of premium fuel in a daily driver. That'd be okay in a summer / second car and/or track vehicle though, which is where i'm headed with an rx7 project car.

Yeah, as soon as I posted about owning an srt4, i pulled on the flame suit. It's alright, it's not as if the rep isn't totally undeserved. there are a lot of young boneheads running around in those racing anything on wheels because they think they're hot ****. Me, i'm a high school music teacher, and I drive one because it's fun, not because i care about the 'image'.
(that's not to say i'm not looking forward to running around in a dead-sexy 3rd gen. )
