B6T and Joe are right....

2002 Subaru WRX tranny. The car dyno'ed 305whp and took the owner less than 1 day to make it look like this.
What a mess

wow, people bitch about dsm trannies!

then again, 305 WHP is a lot on an AWD car, it must've been quick before it exploded :P

what's bill going to replace it with?

So I have no idea what he's going to do.

Looks like the inside of my Miata transmission after I put redline in it.

Only thing there is to do is get a used transmission. A rebuild would be far superior in cost. Especially on an AWD transmission.

OR

DOGBOX it!

Wow, I've heard that the WRX trannies are weak at more than stock power levels but DAMN! An STi tranny would solve the fragility problems.

yep thats the glass house tranny, boom well more of a loose metal rolling around lol. car wont idle and stalled out on me trying to flood it self on me at a set of lights, light turned green and i was still sitting there so i got a little mad and decided to start it back up and hold the gas and launch at 5000rpm not real high but yes high enough. car almost stalled again but was moving got a hard pull in first the then grabed 2nd and tranny went boooooooooooooooooom!!!!!!!!! thats what happend.

i never thought that it would be a quick fix that was just a wishing guess lol.

thinking of getting a built tranny for it. we will see.

rpm will be doing reinstall when ever i get a tranny lined up.

dsm are good just gentle riders, treat them nice and they will treat u nice.

the trick to not breaking a dsm trans is not increase power levels beyond stock!

I did redline clutch dumps on mine pretty often and never broke it

All this talk of weak AWD transmission has me reminicing of my old 323GTX I had... those transmissions are pure garbage. You could pop one in a matter of minute at stock power levels if you wanted to...

Really!? I didn't think DSM motors held together long enough to wear out/break a tranny!

I had practically no issues with my dsm motor as far as it breaking far enough to strand me or stop the car from working goes.

it did have a nasty-*** lifter tick for the last few months though.

Actually, i'd say the 6-bolt 4g63 is one of the better turbo motors out there in terms of reliabiliity.
