Z-rated,
You have to learn to manage your tires... You don't have to go *****-to-the-wall fast all the time. It's an endurance race... If you know the pattern of the competition and how often they pit, you arrange your pit schedules accordingly. Finding a car that's fast and easy on it's tires also helps. As it turns out, alot of the rotary powered cars are easy on their tires... It's gotta be the weight thing..
nfs05,
Hmmm, the only car that's competitive in the Extreme League is the 787B?!?! Oh man... Time to do some races and sell everycar I win... lol I only have about 12 cars in the garage... Most of the them rotary powered... So I don't want to get rid of those...
Those Driving Missions you mentioned are crazy hard!!! Driving that awful Toyota 2000 for mission 11 is absolutely impossible!! I've tried finding places where the car is fast and the closest I've come was 2nd place trailing the Cosmo by 2 secs!! You have no idea how much of a pisser that is!! You have to be perfect on every lap... Not to mention avoiding the stupid computer cars... They program those things to get in your way on purpose!!!
Luckily I don't have to do any of the other missions... I just needed that God awful 70's Toyota racer to finish the World Classic race... God I hated that!!
concept-R,
I feel your pain... It's so addicting... More out of fustration... Because you know you can go faster... So you start cleaning up your act driving wise...
Scary part is, you start to implement some of the techniques in your real world driving! LOL The little Mazda3 can really hold on an on-ramp...

Well, GT4 is really starting to peel my onion to the nub.
I entered into the GT World race at the end of the professional hall and managed to scrape through by the skin of my teeth. My grievances:
Some of the track selection is absolutely assinine. You can only realistically compete in those races with a "Prototype/GTP/LMP" or whatever you want to refer to them as, style of car. I chose the Pescarolo Sport for no particular reason (on a sidenote this car is unrelenting on the rear tires).
My problem with track selection is that these are high downforce cars. Why are tracks like Hong Kong and Opera Paris in the mix? So many 90 degree corners you have to basically come to a halt on and you have no downforce working for you. The computer just ran away with those races.
The other races which I won were overall pretty much unenjoyable. You have to outfit the car with racing hard or even super hard, then you get understeer in, power on oversteer out. You've constantly got to be right on top of what the car is doing or may decide to do as a result of these bullshit tires.
The tires are only optimal for one or two laps, the other laps they're either too cold, or wearing out. The race version cars simply aren't fun to drive unless you have at least the medium compound race tire on. Looks like most of the races from here on out that simply won't be an option due to wear. I like the tire wear aspect, but there's got to be a longer window where the tires perform, and the mediums wear too fast.
*** As an additional note, some of you may not know, I just recently found out by accident... the practice session takes the place of qualifying. If you're 1st in practice you'll start on pole***

Phew!! I know what you're going through Mr.Eccentric... I've finally managed to get through the last race in Pro League and I finally got the chance to compete in the Extreme Hall...
The last race in Pro League is a PITA... If you don't have a LM Prototype car, you're done for! Luckily enough I managed to scronge up enough money to get myself the 787B! Yeah baby!!!
The rear tires on these cars get cooked really quickly... So you have to be gentle... and you have to setup the car for every specific race... Meaning downforce and gearbox ratios... I manged to do most of the races I like in A-spec mode... The ones I'm not too fond of I do in B-spec mode... That B-spec driver takes his sweet time getting around people!!
I got to see the final movie ending (I wonder if that's the real movie ending??).. Airial shot of a 350Z circling the Nurburgring...
I quickly got the 787B prepped to do battle in the first race of the Extreme Hall... I wanted the BMW McLaren F1... It's the only reason why I had to complete the Pro League.. Thankfully it didn't take too long... It was relatively easy compared to the last race in Pro League...
So I'm complete, car wise... I really don't want anything else... If I do gather enough nerve, I would like to do the 24Hr LeMans race version 2... That's when they give you the Bentley Speed 8... But I really don't want to put the 787B through that type of torture... It's got 1035km's on the clock... My RX-7 LM has 612km's and my RX-8 LM has about 440km's...
I think I'll just resort to learning the tracks... I've gotten really good at Suzuka... The LeMans track is a PITA... My braking points always get fucked up on that circuit...
Nothing to do now but wait till day 694 rolls around so I can pick up the "Black" 787B...

Resurrected!
I put down GT4 for awhile... busy with other things, however I've had a hankerin' to play lately.
Has anybody achieved 100%?
Currently I'm at 92%. Some of those driving missions are absurd.
I've pretty much got to finish up the endurance events and tidy up some loose ends in a few of the halls and that's it.
I've been wondering, if you compete in a 24h race does the weather or time of day change? It better at least change to night, because the after the audacity of actually having a real 24h race (moreover multiple endurance races), I really hope they took the time to have that element.
Why however, do I have a sneaking suspicion that they won't.

I am at 88.2%. I have done all the halls, all the manufacturer races, all the special conditions races, all the endurances, and all the beginner/pro/extreme races. All that I have left now is to get gold/silver on the liscences, and finish one race in super liscence to get it. Then I have to finish the driving missions, I have about 5 done, and thats it. I dont think I will ever get 100% though, since I dont think I can get gold/silver on all the liscences.
